“A matter of taste”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

I guess you're either excited by Kerchner's impressionist style or left a little cold. The museum houses a couple of dozens of his paintings, sketches. and a wood carving. Also a small exhibition of photos by Danish artist Ebbe Stub Wittrup (until November 2013).

“An underrated artist showcased in a great building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Kirchner probably deserves better recognition, especially some of his wood sculpture and the like. This place, which is something of a surprise in the small town of Davos, showcases his work well. So worth a visit.

“Good if you need to kill some time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

The Kirchner Museum provides works by the troubled famous German artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner who spent the last part of his life in Davos, Switzerland. If you are into impressionist art, this museum would definitely fit your interests. Unfortunately I found little that I would consider art of high quality. Kirchner's scenic paintings were the highlight, as you could at least make out what he was painting.

The museum itself is small with only four rooms with artwork. There is a small library next to the register and a video (in German) in the basement. It costs 12 CHF for adults, but at least the museum is open until 1800hrs. I would check beforehand for the exact hours as they might change due to the seasons. The museum is located above the Valiant Arena, so is easy to find and get to. If you are looking for 30 minutes to an hour tops to kill, the Kirchner Museum might be a good option. I don't pan on going back, but at least I can check the box.

“I was there on Opening Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Entrance was free! I am not an avid fan of art museums, but I thought I would check it out and have a look, as I had a free day to myself before course! I ambled throught the four rooms, mimicking the four different periods that this artist went through. A lot of Kirchners' (from Davos) work seemed to imitate Van Gogh and Picasso, so it was interesting to see who his idols and muses were. I would say he had a preoccupation with the female form, but when painted like the great Picasso, little was recognisable.

“Guidon & Guyer, Kirchner and lots more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012 via mobile

architecture is as much of interrest as the exhibited art!
building done by one of the most important architect-teams of Switzerand. Early wok.
Also modern art exhibits beside the Kirchner works
