We arrived on the Glacier Express for a 3 day stay in Chur. The Otello was only a 10 minute stroll from our hotel - the ABC and is situated in a quiet, leafy area. Athough we hadn't reserved a table we went on spec but the restaurant was heaving and unfortunately we were unable to dine. The staff were genuinely sympathetic and booked us in for the following evening. We're so glad that we returned; the atmosphere was happy & convivial and there was a buzz around the restaurant as the local football team had been successful in a tourament and the young lads were feasting around a long table which had been prepared for them. There were also tables laid out for birthday celebrations. The staff were extremely courteous and efficient and the restaurant quickly filled up with local clients.
We kicked off with a very fresh and generous green salad. For mains, my wife chose spaghetti carbonara while I opted for lamb - both dishes were well prepared, presented and tasted superb !! We thought it couldn't get better but the desserts we ordered were amazing - tip; try the 'Danemark'.
For what we had chosen to eat and drink we agreed that the cost represented tremendous value.
Without doubt this was our best eating experience in Switzerland (which has high standards anyway) and it will be on our itinerary should we return to the county in the future.
