“Wonderful stay in Wengen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Our family of four enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel Edelweiss. Our room was clean, comfortable and provided lovely views of the picturesque village of Wengen. Each morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet from the hotel’s dining room, which overlooked the magnificent Jungfrau. We also returned one evening after a long hike for a fun and tasty fondue dinner (extra). The owners and staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. We recommend Hotel Edelweiss for your stay in the Swiss Alps.

Hotel Edelweiss is stunningly located with outstanding views and access to some wonderful walks and scenery. It offers really comfortable rooms and good facilities. The children loved the sauna and ping-pong table. Extremely clean and comfortable, the hotel is a five-minute walk, uphill, from great shops, the station and the cable car. What made our stay - two adults and three teeenage children - so memorable and happy was Daniel and Suzanne who run the hotel and are among the most genuine, friendly and responsive people we've met. Nothing was too much trouble. They really want to please. They succeeded in creating a superb atmosphere and we appreciated the understated Christian ethic that underpins their approach. The chef is amazing - excellent food and a different home-made soup every night. The Edelweiss team, every one of them, are lovely people who really care. We'd love to go back.

Room Tip: Having a balcony was a real bonus and the views from our side of the hotel were simply stunning.

We enjoyed three nights at this friendly hotel in July 2013. Our room was bright and cheery with a balcony that provided a view of the magnificent Jungfrau mountain. The staff were lovely people giving us the impression that we were staying with family. We enjoyed a cheese fondue meal on the Sunday night and a delicious buffet-style breakfast each morning. There were lots of "nice touches" - beautiful alpine flowers on the tables in the dining room and also in the entry area. Plates of biscuits and candy were available to guests in the common area. The staff provided excellent suggestions of sights to see in the area and hikes to take. I would love to go back!

Room Tip: The balcony and view is worth the extra cost!

We stayed in a quad room with a bunk bed for the kids. Although the room is furnished more like a dorm than a top rated hotel (this is not the Four Seasons) everything was clean and comfortable. There is no fridge, but we were told to place our water bottles outside the window overnight, and every morning we woke up with cold water.
Before staying here we were curious about the dinners and couldn't find much info on them, other than the fact that so many people recommended them. We ate there twice and enjoyed the meals, although some items were better than others. For the benefit of others, here is an abbreviated menu of what we had:

Night 1
A rolled slice of poultry with a filling and a slaw
Spicy cream of chicken soup
Roast beef with pesto mashed potatoes and veggies
Mascarpone ice cream with berries

Night 2
Plate of various salads
Red beet soup
Venison in sauce with polenta
Apple sauce with flavored whipped cream

Every course ranged from just okay to delicious. They also prepared separate vegetarian meals for my daughter. Service was friendly and quick. Highly recommended-- both the dinner and the hotel.

Hotel Edelweiss is one of the hotels that have the „je ne sais quoi” that is making you not to want to leave. Everything in this hotel is making you feel excellent: the people, the accommodation, the food, the view. My husband and I spent 4 days in hotel Edelweiss and it was an unique experience. We got a room with balcony on the third floor with a magnificent view over the valley below and the surrounding mountains. It was a delight every evening to enjoy a glass of wine while admiring the sunset and it was a joy every morning looking at the mountains. The room was very comfortable, of a medium size, but it was exactly what we needed. The bathroom was rather small but very clean and well endowed (including hair dryer). The hotel has a very cosy restaurant with views to the glacier and with an excellent food. Every evening we were spoiled by the hotel cook with four delicious dinner courses. The hotel is very convenient for people that wants to spent few days hiking and relaxing in the Jungfrau area, is very well located (5 minutes walking to the Wengen train station) and it has reasonable prices for an excellent quality (taking into account that Jungfrau region is one of the most expensive in Switzerland). Special thanks to Martin (who spent a lot of time with us giving a lot of precious tips for the area), to the cook (who spoiled us with traditional delicious Swiss food) and to the Croatian lady that was taking care of us during breakfast and dinners.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony overlooking the mountains. I recommend dinner in the hotel. The cook is...

I got it reservation from booking.com and later I found out that hotel website booking gives more advantage. The hotel offers nice location, views, and play area for children. Rooms are small but cozy and anyway it's better to leave to room and enjoy the surroundings.
I congratulate Daniel and Susanne to successfully manage such a wonderful guesthouse (and I am deliberately not using the term 'hotel'). Daniel made it certain through detailed guidance to improve our local excursion plans as well as arranged baby carrier so that our stay in Wengen is delightful beyond the boundaries of his facilities, which meant us a lot.

Room Tip: Prefer balcony rooms.

excellent service in this hotel. We stayed one week as a family of four and we really enjoyed the food, the service and the friendliness of the whole hotel team. We definitely recommend this hotel. It was much offered for the price it has.

Room Tip: rooms on the side of the entrance of the hotel are sunnier and with a beautiful view of the Jungfrau...
