I arrived in Murren on the cable car and found my entire team staying at the Alpenruh and I found myself walking to the other end of town (with all my gear) and not a very happy camper....as it is 5minutes accross town....a delightful town I might add....full of pleasant locals who greet you as they walk past....living in Lausanne, you feel that this is Switzerland from another time.
I saw both Edelweiss and Alpenruh hotels and can safely say that while location of the Alpenruh is a little better and the Alpenruh is prettier and more 'authentic in architecture and decor' - you get a far nicer set of amenities in the bathroom at the Edelweiss and the beds/bedding are comparable....wound up doing late night conf calls with a teammate staying at the Alpenruh (and they didnt have a conf room or room in the restaurant). So I had a chance to work in a bedroom at the Alpenruh....and lie on the bed etc as we worked through the night.
Both have the same amazing view and both have pleasant staff.
Not sure about the Breakfast at Edelweiss....but again...for an extra 5 minute walk, I saw more of Murren and felt I was getting more for my money at Edelweiss than my colleagues at Alpenruh.
Would stay again and warmly recommend.
