“The view is worth everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed in Murren for 5 nights at the Blumental. Heidi and Ralph run the place and are wonderful. We stayed in a chalet across the back lawn area (which was beautiful) and had a view from our balcony of the Mountains. The room was new and modern, but still had the classic Swiss charm. It was very roomy and cozy. The breakfast room is stunning and the food is great. We ate in the restaurant one night and thought it was possibly the best meal we had on our trip. I would beg to stay at the Blumental again. Hope all of our friends get a chance to stay there. The price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Upstairs a few floors and away from the front street.

Nicely located in car-free Mürren, across from the ATM and Coop grocery store about a 10 minute walk from the train, perhaps 5 from the gondola. We spent four nights in very genial surroundings in a spacious room. The bathroom and shower are a bit dated, but serviceable. The hosts are friendly, and the breakfast was outstanding. It was an enjoyable stay and a good value.

Stayed for one night to get an early start on the Schilthorn and was very please with the choice. The hotel is very clean and very Swiss - lots o wood in the spare but comfortable room, comfortable bed and extremely clean throughout. The woman taking my reservation suggested the second floor of the chalet for the views and we were not disappointed (see photos.)

The "La Grotte" is also very good, see the separate review.

Will stay here again on my next trip up the mountain.

We stayed 2 nights in a 2nd floor chalet behind the hotel (short walkway to the room) and loved it. The room was spotless overall. The owners are friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in their restaurant, La Grotte I believe, literally both nights we were there because it was that good and the service was great. And the view!!! Unbelievable.

Lovely place to stay while visiting Murren. Rooms were spotless and comfortable and view of mountains was as described. Breakfast was standard fare but plentiful and served in a spacious, sunny room reserved only for breakfasts. Hotel hosts were helpful with advice when asked. Internet worked fine and was provided at no charge in my room.
As with almost any inn, you can hear your neighbors going about their business but fellow guests were quiet so was not an issue. Didn't see any sign of a nightclub as earlier reviews have mentioned. I had the best night sleep in a week while staying at the Blumental!

Our stay at Hotel Blumental could not have been more wonderful! We arrived on August 1st, Swiss National Day. We ate at the hotel's restaurant, and while the portions were small, the food was delicious. We highly recommend eating there. Because it was Swiss National Day, a small parade came right by the restaurant/hotel, led by young men swinging traditional bells. It was exactly what you'd want as a tourist staying in a small Swiss town. Then we went up to the Athletic Center where we heard a speech (by the mayor?), a small band performed, and we heard the Swiss national instrument, the alphorn. Again, what an experience! The night ended with a fireworks show and drinks at the bar at Hotel Eiger. We are glad we chose Blumental over Eiger because Blumental is deeper into town, whereas Eiger is directly across from the tram, and saw lots of tourist movement.
The hotel itself was lovely. Ralph was extremely helpful, and advised us on trips and scheduled our breakfast the next morning at the Schilthorn, the "007 breakfast." Take advantage of it, by the way.
Our room had a gorgeous view (albeit between two buildings) of the Alps. Breathtaking view. We had a shared balcony, but this added to the charm, as we were able to meet our neighbors.
Breakfast was included, and it was satisfying.
The hotel was quiet, and the whole town of Murren has a wonderful ambience after the tourists leave for the day. We cannot wait to return, and would definitely be staying here again. Maybe we'll even dare to try paragliding.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a mountain view. Pick the James Bond package if you can--this is a great deal!
