“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

We stayed at the Parkhotel du Sauvage for 5 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were all very helpful and efficient - those serving in the hotel restaurant at dinner and breakfast deserve a special mention. We stayed half board and the food was very good - unlike other reviewers we did not eat at the adjoining Kristalls restaurant but had several drinks there which were fine. Our hotel room was spacious and clean, although the modern decor might not be to everyone's taste! The room had a small balcony from which we could see (and hear) the Reichenbach Falls. Having travelled by rail the location couldn't be better as it was only a couple of minutes walk. Would definitely recommend as it's a very pleasant hotel and well located for exploring the many attractions nearby.

We only spent a night in the hotel en route to our next destination. The outside looks grand but the room was a bit of a let-down unless you like the faded style of the 70s. The restaurant served a good menu and the highlight was definetely the wine list. Service was good and friendly, especially our waitress from Vietnam. The receptionist was friendly and helpful in getting us started the enxt day.

This is an expensive hotel @ around £150 per couple per night, but probably worth it as you can hear the famous Reichenbach falls from your balcony. The rooms were huge, with massive bathroom, and breakfast was superb. However, I can't recommend the adjoining restaurant which is part of the hotel, the food was terrible, the worst meal I have had for a long, long time! I would recommend you try somewhere else for your evening meal.

Room Tip: we were situated at the rear of the hotel, where we could hear the waterfalls.

I went there for a managers trip beginning of May 2012.
The location is perfect: close to the train station (walking distance, flat).
Great meeting rooms, very good service during our meetings.
My room was spotlessly clean, but a little bit small. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean too. The only minus is the shower curtain. Clean, ok, but a bit too simple. I would have preferred a glass door.
Otherwise vers good experience overall.
Things we did when we where there: walk to the little train that goes from Meiringen to the "Sherlock Holmes waterfall", then climb to the top of this nice waterfall. (not for people with a weak hearth. It's not that hard, but sometimes the climb is quite steep. Smokers, avoid a cigarette before!)
If you are an aviation fan, don't miss the military airport! There is no daily flights/training, so check in advance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Sherlock's waterfall... Best view.

A lovely old hotel in a beautifully scenic town. The hotel was nicely updated given its age, but not overly modernized to removed the historic charm. I would stay here any time.

My Father and I stayed here in a twin room as part of a Great Rails tour.
The setting of the Hotel is excellent, the staff were friendly and the food was pretty good. My best memory was sitting outside the front of the hotel in the bar (also owned by the hotel) and watching the world go by. It is in an excellent location for touring the area and the views from our room were fantastic. The Hotel was quiet and very clean

Room Tip: I would go for a higher floor

We stayed here as part of a group which must bring a great deal of money into the hotel. The room was quite large and spacious but it would have been helpful if the curtains could have been drawn although there is a blind. Bedside locker's drawer had fallen apart. Main objection, and a serious one, was the virtual absence of staff and especially a manager. The first night buffet was very good and the breakfasts were delicious as were the starters and the desserts. The main courses were, almost uniformly, cold and often unpalatable. Complaints provided the group with free drinks the following night but the quality of the meals in fact deteriorated. No Manager ever appeared to make things/and the food any better. A huge amount of snow which had melted, remained like a frozen lake outside the entite entrance to this hotel. Whereas the rest of Meiringen had been swept clear of snow, nothing was done at the Hotel. The staff that were there were all helpful but, basically, rudderless. The heating was so fierce we slept with windows open.

Room Tip: Our room faced back of hotel and we experienced no noise.
