This is a great hotel!! Not only is the location central to everything in Intelaken but the staff is courteous, the rooms are spotless and the pool and sauna are amazing. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony and the views were beautiful (overlooking the mountains). If you want an amazing stay in Interlaken for a great deal, stay here.

My husband, my daughter and myself spent 3 nights at the Metropole in July as part of a 3 centre tour of Switzerland. We really loved this hotel. It may not be the prettiest hotel in Interlaken but our rooms were clean, comfortable and had wonderful views of the Jungfrau. The staff were polite and helpful, especially in the Bellini restaurant (from where we also enjoyed lovely views). We really enjoyed the fabulous breakfasts and excellent evening meals. Twice during our short stay we used the hotel swimming pool - lovely experience, very few people in the pool and great mountain views at one end. One afternoon we had ice cream at the Top o the Met restaurant and were entertained by watching the many paragliders some of whom came really close. It is true that there is some noise from the street but it didn't last too long after midnight.We didn't think it was unreasonable. In fact my daughter said she didn't even notice it.
We would like to return to Interlaken for a longer visit and would definitely return to the Metropole.

I would recommend the view you get at the top of the hotel. We sat near the windows in the restaurant atop the hotel and watched the hang gliders fly overhead and land in the park in front of us. Sipping drinks and hanging over the balcony on a sunny day above the busy streets below was a nice break from our hectic travels.

We were in Switzerland for 14 nights. We stayed at the Hotel Metropole one night. The rooms, single and double, were tiny. The staff made a mistake and gave my husband and me the single room and our traveling companion the double room. We discovered this error late at night when we only had one pillow on our bed, one set of towels in our bathroom, and our traveling companion had retired for the night. The bed was built into the wall and could only be accessed from one side. We were charged for the double room. The staff refused to discuss the matter. It was our fault that they gave us the wrong room keys. The double room was also tiny but the bed could be accessed from either side.
The carpet was dirty as were the curtains. Mold was around the sliding window. The rooms face the street and park and teenagers stayed outside all night drinking, laughing and talking. The mattress was extremely worn. I've stayed in nicer Motel 6s.
All of our other accommodations in Switerzland were wonderful. This was horrible. The only nice person at the hotel was the young woman who drove us to the train station.
