a very good hotel with very courteous staff.the only thing which was little disappointing was the room size and no coffee maker. the view from rooms is very good. hotel is situated right in the heart of the city.so evrything else is great except for the room size....

Lovely hotel (from the inside anyway, not so great to look at from afar) with spectacular views of the Jungfrau, Schynigge Platte and both lakes from the panorama restaurant on the 18th floor. We thoroughly enjoyed looking out of our balcony on the 6th floor, watching the paragliders, listening to the piano from the terrace of the Grand hotel next door, and just generally soaking up the fantastic views. The cloud cover is a nuisance but clearly the hotel cannot control the weather! Breakfast was excellent (maraschino cherries with yogurt, divine! There was even
bucks fizz, never had that in an English hotel!) and the selection was extensive. We had meals in both restaurants and they were very good. Limited vegetarian selection but that's not unusual. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Director was assiduous in coming to ask if all was OK. We used the pool once and it was a bit cold but lovely to swim with the mountain backdrop. We would definitely stay here again on another trip. Other hotels in Interlaken were either more expensive or didn't have the fantastic views.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the upper floors, as the views are better but the standard rooms are very comfortab...

Tallest building in town, 5 mins walk from Interlaken West station and 10 mins walk from Interlaken Ost Station. Very conveniently located in the centre of town and offers the best views of Jungfrau and Eiger right from your balcony. The staff is very friendly, polite and efficient. I would rate the front desk service as one of the best i have ever experienced. Breakfast is decent and rooms are nice. Do ask for a higher floor to get the best views. Across the street is the central park, left of the hotel is the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel and right is Tourist Information Centre. It's a small town and a 15-20 mins walk can get you to from Interlaken OST station to Interlaken West. Plenty of good restaurants, shopping nearby. I would recommend Interlaken as a must do and surely over Lucern if you are visiting Switzerland

The restaurant on the 32nd floor offers spectacular views and the food is very good. 10/10 for the staff and service levels

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher floor for the best views of the mountains

Dear vacations 056

Thank you very much for reporting your experience at Tripadvisor!

I couldn't describe the hotel Metropole better. Thank you for your compliments for our staff!
Also we are the tallest building in town, we do not have 32nd floors... Our public restaurant "Top o' Met" is located on the 18th floor with a spectacular view over the Alps.

Thank you again and I hope to see you during your next stay in Interlaken!

Best regards

We stayed half-board for almost two weeks and found the evening meals exceptionally good both in quality and variety, with attentive service from the staff. A good selection of Swiss wines was served at a price comparable in price to other European wines. Breakfast was a typical Swiss selection but with a limited range of continental meats and cheeses etc when compared with Austrian hotels. The rooms have a good views - see below - but, sadly, the hotel did not seem to have control of the frequent cloud cover.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views. The higher rooms and those ending in 6, eg 36, have the advantage of a sm...

Interlaken became our fav place after we saw the beautiful scenery and fresh air that greets u in the morning. I was up at 5am to see the sunrise and it was beautiful. In the evening, I took a paramonic photo from my room and from another room at the end to see the other side. I post them here for all of you to see. The breakfast was so-so but maybe it's group tour version. Heard the dinner was good but we went to bebe's with the rest. Wish to stay here longer maybe for the whole week the next time.

Dear AIK71

Thank you so much for rating us on Tripadvisor!

We absolutely agree: Interlaken is heaven on earth with the majestic Alps around! We are proud you did enjoy your stay with us and in Interlaken! Indeed, the group breakfast buffet is limited due to the tight budget of Tour Operators. If you are travelling independently, try out our American Breakfast buffet - you wont miss enything! A tip: If you book directly in the hotel you will get free access to our wifi during your stay.

Now we wish you all the best and we are looking forward to welcoming you at the hotel Metropole Interlaken again!

Best regards

My wife and I have stayed at the Metropole Hotel, Interlaken, for our Swiss holiday for the last
11 years and have always been greeted by friendly management and staff. This year especially
as I have been diagnosed with coeliac disease and need a gluten and wheat free diet, I found all the staff well informed and nothing was too much trouble to ensure that I was well catered for.
Indeed, the chefs went to great lengths to see that my dietary requirements were met, with
delicious meals and desserts. We cannot praise the manager and staff enough for their excellent attention.
Our room on the 12th floor was well equipped and had magnificent views of the town and the
Jungfrau. The hotel is very well situated between the two railway stations and ideal for excursions and shopping.

We were spending a week in Switzerland. We flew to Zurich and travelled by train to Interlaken.
On arrival at the Metropol, we were warmly and efficiently welcomed and shown to our room which was on the 14th floor with a wonderful view of the Jungfrau and the surrounding town. The room was comfortable but not remarkable. The bathroom was very nice and clean with all the necessary accoutrements, but there was no shelf or counter to put make-up items and I had to use the toilet lid! A bonus was that the para gliders sailed right past our balcony, and we could shout out to them. There is a restaurant with a balcony on the 15th floor which is worth a visit for tea.
we took half-board and the breakfast was excellent, and the evening dinners were very good although the half board menu was somewhat limited.
We have one criticism of this hotel. We were there for three nights and were very happy with the food for two nights. Dinner on the final night was a bit of a disaster. The hotel had a banquet for 150 people and apparently the kitchen could not cope and were unable to serve the dozen or so guests in the dining room efficiently. The service was non existent and we waited for an hour and a half for our main course. Unfortunately when it arrived I was unable to eat it as it was just too late. We arrived in the dining room at 7.50pm and the main course was served at 9.20pm. The other diners suffered the same fate. The Waiter and the Manager were very apologetic and waived the charge for the drinks. However this tainted our stay, and we would not be confident to visit there again. Rather sad.

Room Tip: Definitely a top floor room is worth having.

Dear Jayell71

Thank you very much for rating us on Tripadvisor!

Thank you as well for the compliments such as warm and friendly staff, clean rooms and excellent half-board and brekfast. I am sorry we couldn't manage to satisfy you on your last evening. Indeed we had a banqueting of 150 guests taking place at this evening and it took us longer than usual to serve your main course. I am so sorry for this incident! As far as I remember we tried to apologise as well by offering you the drinks. Again I am sorry for this evening!

I hope you keep the good memories of your stay with us!

Warm regards
