“Location saves the day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

The accommodation was good and expected for a 3star hotel. The-location excellent close to the Wes railway station and with in walking distance of some excellent Interlaken restaurants. The so called breakfast was poorly presented and sub standard, the banana,s were blackened , the scrambled egg was over cooked , the bacon and tomato cold, the breakfast service abysmal. Being a seasoned traveller I have never encountered such apathy as was shown by the restuarant staff. Wifi worked sporadically..

Room Tip: A room where you can open a window for air conditioning

The rooms appear to be updated but do not have flat plasterboard but that rough surface which makes them look more 70's vintage. The skirting boards were carpet not wood and were coming unstuck from the walls..
The shower was in the bathtub which was extremely high and dangerous to get out of.
BUT it was a very good comfortable bed and I had the best nights sleep.
Breakfast was good with variety and the tea and coffee making facilities were great. I wish all hotels would supply this
There were no problems with airconditioning when I stayed and the weather was warm.

Located right on the main drag and about 100m from the train station. We were upgraded to a Superior room and that was a bigger room with windows facing 2 directions. Great mountain views. Room was large with 2 double beds, 2 chairs and a couch. Only problem was without AC you needed to open windows for some cool air, and then you had traffic noise to deal with. Room was clean and well lit. Breakfast was included and was very nice, all you need to start your day. Staff was friendly and helpful. You will notice below I only give it a 3 for value, and that is because all hotels in Switzerland are very overpriced. This is not a Hotel Krebs thing, but all hotels.

The hotel is located at an excellent location, very close to the railway station. The rooms are large by European standards, well maintained and clean. However, the air conditioning did not work and the staff asked us to leave the windows open (so obviously it was noisy). The wi fi is complimentary but does not work very well and the breakfast spread was not great either (The fruit was bad and the woman who looks after the buffet was extremely rude). The hotel has a major paucity of staff which is why their service is not all that good.

Breakfast was included in our rate. Selection was limited and staff did not refill items when empty. Room was comfortable but has no air conditioning. With daytime temps into the mid 70's, this was a problem.

This is a hotel with old world charm. The corridors and stairs are uneven and look very old, but e rooms are up to date and comfortable. We really liked the kettle in the rooms for making a cup of tea. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and served in the downstairs dining room with plenty of space.

We have just moved on from our visit to Interlaken and we're missing it already. Our first impressions were that they are professional, with staff waiting for us to arrive, which was late. The room was classy, extremely large by European standards clean and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was large and user friendly, the beds were 2 singles placed together but the linen was set for 2 singles so at least it worked. The pillows and doona were down filled and felt luxurious. The breakfast was awesome, all you could ask for in both a hot and cold breakfast, there was even champagne if you wanted it! The restaurant was a little expensive but again was set for the higher end of the market but as the location was ideal you are within walking distance of cheaper alternatives. The staff were friendly and helpful, the WiFi worked perfectly each time, you get free local bus tickets and the free gift was cool! Don't visit just for the gift, as the location places you in a great position to see what the Alps have to offer and the lakes are just a sight. The hotel asked us about the service value ratio and this sums it up, you pay a little more but in service and value you get much more. Its the kind of hotel you could just stay there, wake up have breakfast, move onto the courtyard to sit on the lounges and watch the world get your lunch there and drink at the bar. For locals it would be a great weekend away, for those a little further afield its worth the visit. For those in Australia its an up to date yet individual boutique type place you would find in Katoomba.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor and our room had a balcony, it was great as it meant we could open the...
