Interlaken was the last stop of a trip I made with some friends through Switzerland and, after staying in many other Youth Hostels, it was by far the best one.
By looking at it from outside, you might think you got the wrong address because it look more like a 5-star hotel. It has a Bar & restaurant in the Lobby and also a fireplace that we really really enjoyed after a freezing night walking to the citycenter (about 1km).
Bedrooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped, you get a really tasty buffete breakfast like in most Swiss hostels.
It is also very near to the Interlaken OST train station (few hundred meters) and there is covered parking in the basement if you arrive by car (although you must pay for it) or plenty of parking spots in the street (with meter)
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Interlaken is a town with international flair. The unique location of the youth hostel next door to Interlaken-Ost Railway Station and at the foot of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains offers boundless pleasure for adventurous guests. A train journey up to Jungfraujoch is one of the highlights of a trip through Switzerland. Jungfraujoch also boasts the highest railway station in Europe - at an altitude of 3,454 metres in a high-alpine wonderland of ice, snow and rock. The extensive ski areas with over 200 kilometres of pistes are also very popular in winter. ... more less
