“an easy walk down from Eigergletscher station to Kleine Scheidegg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

this trail is well marked and is an easy walk down (I haven't tried it up bank). part way down there is the original Mittelegei hut which is fascinating to look in to and see how the mountaineers would have slept years back. There is also a small building showing the various routes up the North Face of the Eiger and paying tribute to some of the tragedies which have happened there. There is also a small pool where you can sit and dangle your hot, tired feet in the lovely refreshing water.

“Awesome trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Even in the cold, wet rain we had a great hike to a mt hut that was out of this world! Wound up taking a gondola ride back down but still managed to hike about 10 miles in beautiful country and well marked trails.

“Do yourself a favour and walk this one UP...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

... from Alpiglen to Eigergletscher. The views are better, and the hike is an awesome workout. Oh, and if you can, do it in the afternoon--the Eiger's North Face is angled slightly westward, so in the morning it's in shadow (and it's much cooler--though the hike will warm you up soon enough :). I mean, if you came here to see this magnificent north face, you pretty much owe it to yourself to have the best view of it.

“Face to face with the Eiger”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We did this trail our last day in Switzerland early in the morning, hiking uphill from Alpiglen station which we find easier on the knees than downhill. We had waited for the day with the best weather forecast to ensure a clear view of the Eiger face towering above us. Wear good hiking boots and layers as the face is in shadow until late afternoon and it can feel quite cold if at all windy. There's waterfalls along the way, and the view down the valley is superb. An enjoyable hike that we will likely repeat.

“Awesome hiking trail”

Ensure you have good solid hiking boots and that you are in somewhat decent shape. Be forwarned regarding the altitude changes when hiking too!
