“Pefect position, wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We arrived later in the evening and still received a wonderful welcome with a thorough explanation of the hotel and opportunities to tire ourselves out the next day. The room wad fantastic with it's own balcony, stunning view and delightfully a huge skylight over the bed through which we could watch the night sky.
We cannot be too complimentary about the assistance and advice we received in selecting a suitable hiking track - great advice - and buying the tickets for the gondola through reception - beat the queues.
My wife was on a bit of a pilgrimage to find a chalet she had stayed in years ago and even pointing that out was no problem.
The only problem with our stay was that it was too short. We hope to return in the next couple of years.

We stayed at Gletschergarten for 8 nights in July and felt warmly welcome from the moment we walked in. Our room was quiet, well appointed with plenty of space and refreshingly cool despite the very warm weather. The food was excellent, varied, catering for vegetarian requirements with imagination and there was plenty of choice on the wine list. Best of all though was the family feel about the hotel, coupled with excellent service both in the dining room and at the desk where Gabriela and Gerhard ensured that we had all the information needed to throughly enjoy our stay in Grindlewald. There were some lovely little personal touches and some great company with people who returned regularly. We will be doing the same and would recommend this gem of a 3* without hesitation to family and friends. The only thing to dislike was having to leave.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back don't have the Eiger view, but they don't have any traffic noise either

This hotel is excellent and the staff and owners are really friendly. My husband has Coeliacs and we found Gabby and her husband were excellent at dealing with allergy and different diets. There was never a problem and they even bought GF bread for Bill which never normally happens. Our stay with them was brilliant and we would certainly visit again and recommend to everyone for a fantastic holiday and great food for everyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in the apartment and ate all our meals in the hotel and the view was fantastic.

Just spent eight nights here on half board. The welcome was warm - as was the weather!
The standard of accommodation is good and the evening dinner very good quality with pleasant service. The owners were very keen to ensure that we had all the information and advice needed. We would most certainly recommend a stay here.

This hotel was just perfect. The owners truly made our experience worthwhile. They really cared about our enjoyment. The hotel rooms were comfortable and clean. Not the most modern or new, but just right and rustic. I will be back here, and would recommend.

Just spent a great two nights here. Spacious room, balcony (for all rooms I think), friendly and helpful staff, charming decor, million dollar views. Definitely eat dinner here; wish we had done so both nights. Review that night's menu posted at the dining room's entrance.
Room tip: keep your windows closed if you don't want to be awakened by the smell of your morning's croissants being baked by the bakery across the street. :) Ha!

Hotel Gletschergarten is a wonderful hotel in Grindelwald. We spent two great days there last week and had a wonderful top floor corner room with the view of the glacier and the mountains. it was almost unreal to have such a beautiful view, especially coming from Denmark which is a very flat country. The interior is old fashioned but very cosym and it was very clean and nice. We had a huge balcony from where we could enjoy the breathtaking view. Gabriela and Gerhard were very kind and hospitable, and we had some very nice talks with them (mostly in Danish since Gabriela is half Danish). The breakfast and dinner that we enjoyed in the restaurant was also very nice and the staff were also very friendly. Gabriela was even so kind to give us a gift when we checked out.
Grindelwald is a cosy small town and we had a great hike from First (we took the lift up) that Gabriela recommended to us. I really hope we will back to this nice hotel and these wonderful hosts again some other time, because we just had the best time there. You will not regret going to this wonderful place. It is a bit pricy but Switzerland is expensive but the beautiful view and the nice people makes it worth every Swiss franc :)

Room Tip: We stayed in room 36 on the top floor - I can really recommend that room because of the huge balcony...
