About halfway along the Main Street, Dorfstrasse, Onkel Tom's Hutte is always a delight to visit although they are so successful they operate a waiting list rather than taking reservations - however they did take a telephone booking from me last month as an exception! We first visited back in 1991 or thereabouts when the restaurant had just opened. Today it's still the same friendly welcome. It's a wooden log cabin type of building with the seating arranged around the central pizza kitchen with more seating upstairs on an open gallery. The pizza's on offer are excellent, good choice, quick service. English menu available. Very extensive wine list. They say "we owe our success to our customers" and I think many people on holiday winter or summer in Grindelwald are returning customers. We would have returned again in the same week but found they are closed on a Wednesday &Thursday. It's a cosy refuge on a snowy night, but in summer there is also some undercover outside seating. Great!
