“Beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Well worth a visit. We enjoyed the alpine garden and the beautiful views. The restaurant food was good and the views from their were amazing. The alpine horn blowers are a quaint attraction,

There is a panorama walk but I was not up to doing that as it was very steep in places,

“Great start for a hiking tour or just to catch the Swiss mountain feeling.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

Walk the hour long 'panoramaweg' to see the beautiful surroundings. Or continue your hike to Mannleben hut, a mere 2,5 hour away. The ridge gives you excellent views of the famous peaks, if they are not hidden in the clouds.

“Wonderful alpine flowers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

The mountain railway up to Shynige Platte is fun (& you can spot lots of interesting plants on the way). At the top we were most interested in the alpine garden featuring a large range of the local indigenous flora, some planted out in beds, but many simply labeled where they were growing naturally. Botanically, the gardens are definitely jacked-up: names are up to date & the gardens have links to botanists at Swiss universities doing studies on management regimes to maintain the flower meadows. Other good bits at SP are the hotel (excellent coffee) and the Lowa walking/mountain boot shop where you can get excellent advice & even borrow their boots to try out.

“Don't miss the alpine garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Take the cog rail to the top for an extraordinary high alp experience. The alpine garden is unique in its extent and its educational presentations. See in particular the multi-media exhibits near the station. The views are breath-taking. Also stop for a pleasant lunch or dinner at the restaurant, a short hike up from the station

“what a wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

This was not on our original plan, but we found ourselves with an extra day, so we decided to check our Schynige Platte, and we are so glad we did. Its a different perspective of the mountains, and with the wildflowers in full blooms, it was quite a treat. The alpine garden, with all of its meticulously labelled wildflowers was a special treat. We wish we had more time to spend there. Plan a full day there between hiking, exploring, and a visit to the gardens.
