“Great prices, but more like a B&B than a hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

Nicely renovated, clean city centre house, which feels more like a B&B than a hotel. For Switzerland, excellent value. However, altogether not quite what I was expecting from the write=ups: the ground floor is a combination lounge/breakfast room but is also the place where the the hosts seem to hang out most of the day giving it the feel of a large housepart. This is great if you want to chat to the owners, who (rightly) take great pride in the building restoration, but less welcoming if you just want to unwind. Room was large, but a little stark in design: once I had a couple of table lamps on and the main flourescent lights off it looked much more homely. Oddly, although I had a double room for single use the other bed was not made up and was covered with what looked like a large towel which made it feel like staying in someone's spare room. Great breakfast choices, however, especially the local cheeses.

It’s a nice hotel, really close to downtown and walking street (you just have to walk on the bridge and envoy the seesight). On the opposite way you have the railway station after 5min of walk. It’s really like a family hotel, not plenty of room, with a really kindly staff. Negative point related to woods creaking, but it comes with the old house atmosphere :p
Breakfast from 7 to 10 was good as a nice starter.

A great little hotel. The beds are comfy, the internet is great, the breakfast is nice and good quality. There are lots of nice little restaurants in the area so you will not starve in the evening! There is a fridge in the lobby where you can help yourself to drinks and add them to your room bill. The hotel is exceptionally clean, everything works, the TV has a good selection of channels from all around the world so no matter where you're from you should find something to watch. It is a short walk from the train station and there is a bus stop just around the corner for getting to where you want to be. I have stayed here three times since November and have booked another 5 stays up until March.

Room Tip: Pay for the Junior Suite....the rooms are bigger, nice sofa to kick back on and is nice and quiet.

I had business trip to Solothurn and my Principals suggested me this hotel. though initially I found it bit higher in price, however, I found it was very well thoughtfully designed, nicely converted hotel. A friendly & homely atmosphere awaits you, you will have no complains.

Bright colors, clear lines, functional yet cheerful furnishings, original wood flooring, spacious rooms, easy location, spotlessly clean and the best-ever mattresses and bedding! Add to that 5* room amenities and service (including free WiFi throughout) and this hotel becomes my favorite for our periodic stays in Solothurn.
Despite the large windows overlooking the road, the room was quite quiet at night since the road is only used for the public bus system and pedestrians.
The generous breakfast buffet included in the room tariff offered a varied selection of breads, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts, cereals, jams (even homemade jams) and boiled eggs to order.
The coffee machine in the lounge dispenses complimentary, freshly ground coffees all day long. A selection of cold drinks and alcoholic beverages are also available in the lounge.
Room amenities include: complimentary bottle of sparkling mineral water, flat screen TV, hairdryer including diffuser, magnifying vanity mirror, extra pillows and blankets as well as excellent lighting options. Electronic device chargers, additional toiletries and iron/ironing board are available upon request.
"Room Service" delivery is provided by a Spanish tapas restaurant around the corner, although we did not try it out.
The team which runs this hotel does seem to have thought of everything necessary to make for a great stay!
Just a note: I did not give this hotel top marks because the charm of creaky wooden floors (despite carpeting) does not translate well in the early hours when the party above begins to stumble from their bed towards their shower. In addition, it would have been helpful to have had a shelf in the bathroom.
Other than that, there was absolutely nothing to complain about. Even the bathrooms were quiet.

A really nice small hotel in a great location. The room was large, clean, modern and new even though the building is very old. Friendly staff and a good breakfast included in the price. There is no elevator in this building so have to carry bags up quite a few stairs.
