“excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

this is a very nice quiet hotel which has only 12 rooms. it is part of a nursing home. the staff were excellent friendly and very helpful. there is a supermarket underneath the hotel. it is only a step away from the old town and shopping area and the cathedral. (be aware that the centre of the cathedral is under construction so make sure you down miss out on seen the choir stalls and the cript) the hotel reception closes in the evening so you must enter by the side entrance, which is an easier way in for able bodied people. the main entrance to the hotel is a little confusing if you are standing facing the building the entrance to the hotel is to the left of the supermarket and not on the right as the sign suggests. Don't let the fact that it is part of a nursing home put you off I was in two minds about booking here but so glad i did. Breakfast was excellent buffet and you can have as much as you like. if you can speak German/swiss you will be able to order eggs / boiled/scrambled etc, for breakfast.

Room Tip: as far as I know all the rooms are facing onto the gardens belonging to the nursing home

We took a quick break due to holiday in our home area... St Gallen offered lots of attractions and the hotel is very centrally located for walking around. Good room with modern fittings. A little small but we have stayed in smaller. Buffet breakfast with plenty of choices. Good overall value for the area.

This hotel is part of a shopping complex and a home for the elderly. There is a car park under the hotel. The staff are delightful and very efficient. The registration form had been filled in in advance and all we had to do was sign it. Our room was very comfortable and the towels in the bathroom were the best we got anywhere in a three week holiday.

Room Tip: The hotel is part of an elderly care facility so one meets elderly people in the hotel and at breakf...

This is a good budget hotel in St. Gallen, one of the cheapest in town. The room is decent and with all the mod cons including a safe. The bathroom amenities were very good. It has a lot of shelf space which I just happen to need. The front entrance closes at 8 PM but you can get in by the side entrance with your room key.

The big drawback is their internet connection. It only has access to a for fee hotspot which if you aren’t a local customer can be very expensive. I had to shell out CHF 24 because I needed to use it for more than 4 hrs for business.

The hotel is located at the edge of the old town. Many places, including the Abbey and the main shopping streets, are within a few blocks. There is a supermarket at the basement of the hotel building.

Don't be put off by two stars only. It is very nice, clean and quite hotel. Rooms are small and hotel is sharing facilities with residential home but this is not a problem at all. At least wasn't for us. Perfect location near old town surrounded by bars and restaurants. Comfortable beds, spotless cleanliness and good breakfast make it good value for money. Of course for Swiss prices. Strongly recommend if you are on budget.

Very nice hotel - staff is friendly and helpful, it has quiet back yard which is extremely valuable considering the hotel's location. While situated literally few steps away from the center of the old town, it has everything you'd need - underground parking, nice restaurant, etc.
There are only two things that one need to be aware of (and none of those presents the problem, by the way):
1) be very careful when you drive into the underground parking - the curb stones are rather high while the driveway is relatively narrow. So if you've got there by car (classes medium and above) you'd better get ready for some maneuvering if you don't want to get your car scratched.
2) the hotel shares the building with few other businesses and it's not completely obvious how to find the hotel reception - when you enter the front door you'd need to take stairs or elevator 1 floor up to get to the hotel.

Aside of those two "gotchas" (which we've successfully handled :)) I really loved that place and would recommend everyone.
