“An unexpected surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Had an unexpected surprise when we stayed here. We were given/upgraded to an apartment style room (the hotel owns the whole building which includes a side for service apartments). The room included a kitchen, a large bathroom, and a massive bedroom. Breakfast was simple and typical of a small boutique hotel (ex. continental european breakfast). The location was great, a 10 minute walk to the heart of St. Gallen and the train station.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We arrive before the official check-in time, but the front desk take that in their stride. (My goodness, they are well groomed here, and smiling too, like the Avis personnel at Vladivostok airport.) Here's your key; the lift's round the corner. Our apartment is quite big, with two bedrooms, an entrance hall/kitchenette, living room and bathroom. All very modern and clean. The dominant colour in the bathroom is black, and there are two washbasins. The shower has an ingenious magnetic seal on the doors to minimise spillage, but we find out later that the water temperature may fluctuate bizarrely. The range of TV channels in the bedrooms is limited at present because of a changeover of systems in the city, but the beds are very comfortable, and we sleep soundly despite one single disturbance: the perceptible din of locals racing cars through the midnight streets near the station two blocks away.

Breakfast is a sufficiently generous (and frequently replenished) buffet with most of the usual offerings, including cold hard-boiled eggs, petit-suisse cheese and plenty of rolls and croissants. We note that many of the hotel guests seem to be from abroad, for they are speaking languages of other countries. Coffee or tea is served at your table, but nobody offers us a refill. Service however is polite enough here and at check-out, and the bill of course is faultlessly correct. The value for money is fairly good for Switzerland. We'd come again.

Room Tip: The two-bedroom apartments are spacious.

Good dependable consistent boutique hotel, well located for business and personal needs. Staff helpful and will personally chase up requests like extra pillows. Internet access, parking available and ok breakfast. Only negative is that with no AC, rooms can be a bit hot in summer.

It is an efficient, no-nonsense hotel that offers a good price. As other people have mentioned, free internet (asks the staff for the password), good breakfast, short-walk (10 min) to the old city center and not far away from action (a popular bar is nearby, and a good brunch place, lokremise restaurant, built in an old locomotive shed, is within walking distance).

We stayed here in February 2012. The hotel is clean, typical Swiss (boring) decor but a very nice staff to help you out. The rooms are fairly spaceous as well.
The breakfast is very good with some awesome coffee! Parking is available in the back.
You are about one block from the old section so you have a walking distance to everything. Be sure to check out the cathedral and the monastery library, well worth the visit.

We stayed here for a couple of days when in town to watch Chile play Spain. It has everything you need. Good location, close to town and bus/train station. The service was friendly and helpful. The rooms were funky and spotlessly clean. If you are in town, I would give this Hotel serious consideration. The free Internet is also a plus. Oh and the breakfast was fine, the coffee was excellent.

Stayed there for one night on a bicycle tour. The staff couldn't be more pleasant. The room was rather small, but very clean with everything necessary. Very good breakfast. Try getting a room on the back if you prefer to sleep with open windows. The hotel is very close to the old town, which is really nice. We also had a very enjoyable dinner at the restaurant Zeughaus close to the Convent.
