Due to the hotel being full I was initially upgraded to a suite for one night
it was superb --more like an apartment than a hotel room !
furniture was modern and room came equipped with a kettle!
The in room safe came with no way the open it - if you need it ask for a key at reception
There doesnt seem to be any excercise facilities here but the hotel is located within walking distance of the old town
It's been about 4 years since my last stay in the Beaulac and it's good to see that the hotel has been extensively refurbished, as it was starting to look rather tired. Room was modern and clean but unremarkable really, just a normal business hotel room. Aircon is disabled during the winter months, so if you don't like an overheated room, you can always open the window. I did ask for a non-smoking room at check-in but surprisingly this was a problem due to the hotel apparently being full, but the room I was allocated was actually fine.
Good selection of food at breaksfast, particularly liked the local cheeses and yoghurt. Nice view over the lake but a bit misty at this time of year.
Hotel is easy to find in the car - just get to the centre of Neuchatel by the harbour and your there, or by train (tip: take the funicular railway linking the station to the lakeside, then turn right and the hotel is only 5 mins walk from there).
A great hotel for business travel. Ask for rooms facing the lake if you like to look out, or for room 147 if you prefer space (but still don't want to pay the earth) - not facing the lake though. Food in the restaurant is really nice and they have fine selection of wines. During the summer months the decking outside is also open and you can watch the boats coming in to the harbour (mainly little yachts) as the sun sets. The last time we stayed we got given a free cocktail voucher for reserving a table for dinner - worth knowing if you are going to eat in the hotel anyway.
The Beaulac is situated on the lake in the centre of Neuchatel.
The rooms were of a good size, I had a lake view room which was lovely when the fog cleared. The rooms were also very cosy and warm.
I found that the hotel staff were always friendly and helpful.
The Hotel restaurant was of a high quality and the prices reflect this, I can highly recommend the chocolate dessert with its sumptuous squishy melted chocolate centre, served with raspberry sorbet and fresh fruit to dip in the middle. I had to go back to the restaurant just for this desert.
There are several restaurants in Neuchatel within walking distance of the hotel.
The only down sides to the hotel were that and the hotel does not do foreign currency exchange, so you will need to visit a bank if you need to cash travellers cheques/change money etc. They can also be cashed at the train station which is quite a way from the hotel. TV in English was a little lacking with only news channels and BBC Prime in English.
