“Amazing painted front, in middle of old town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Worth going just for the pictures (and poems) on this and nearby buildings and the surrounding area. It was very busy, but we found service quick and friendly (more than could be said for some of the other customers!). Good traditional Swiss food - rosti, fondue, lake fish - and wine. Don't suppose it was any more expensive than a similar meal in any Swiss city. Unlike another reviewer, I found the ladies' toilet quite clean and OK, although maybe not as pristine as some. Limited outside seating, but we were lucky; inside is very traditional Swiss. I think they also have rooms.

“Great Swiss comfort food. A little pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Third time here over th past 8 years and, I'm happy to say, the smoke smell is gone and the plce is a pleasure to visit. Stopped in for fondue and local weiswein on jet-lag day. Nothing could be better for a Swiss welcome.

“High priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

As every restaurant in Switzerland pretty expensive: for a wiener schnitzel for example you have to pay more than 42 francs. The rosties with different ingredients (I had the one with 3 cheeses) are pretty good. My wife had raclette: in this case we were unsatisfied since in a swiss restaurant it should be not served only in a normal plate. Nevertheless the service was attentive and nice.

“Not going there again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

The food was okay and the portions plentiful. That's the best I can say about this place.

The waiter snapped the ashtray away just as I was going to put out my cigarette. Then he came and replaced it with a _dirty_ ashtray.

The worst part of the experience was the toilets in the basement. The whole area REEKED of urine! This was around noon. Never in Switzerland have I experienced such uncleanliness.

“Fondue, Fondue, Fondue!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We had reservations at two other restaurants with our hearts set on the whole fondue experience. After walking past them, we were hardly excited as they both seemed very expensive with little atmosphere. We stumbled on Fritschi and went in with marginal expectations but we were quickly impressed. The friendly nature of everyone in there, in combination with the great meal, won us over. A family of 5, we had two cheese fondue orders, two beef, and one chocolate along with drinks for all, and the bill was 250 francs. Not cheap, but about a hundred francs less than the place right around the corner that was unfriendly.
