“friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. We chose this inn because of the location and price, as it was a 15 min walk for us from the train station. We found the staff very helpful and friendly when we had questions. The room was very plain and could use some drapes, pictures, and area rugs for decor, and it would help to make it quieter, as the floors are wooden and squeaky throughout. We mostly enjoyed our stay but did not care for the shared bathroom, so would not likely stay here in a future visit.

Pleasant stay in a double room. The host shared some great tips of activities in Luzern, which were much appreciated (ask for the old bathhouse). Only downside is that there was a bit of street noise at night

I will preface this review by saying that Switzerland is outrageously priced everywhere, so we were looking for the best bang for our buck with the criteria of no more than approx $200AU per night.

All things considered we fared reasonably well with The B&B in Luzern. We booked the attic room which unlike the other rooms, has a private bathroom. We stayed 4 nights. The room was basic, plus a few extra niceties thrown in: spacious room, loft windows, big bed, sofa, TV. Breakfast was a fairly limited buffet, but nice.

It was a comfortable, clean, and pleasant stay. However for our nominated budget we procured more high end accommodation in every other European country on our trip. The B&B felt like backpackers digs with an extra star added. This is in no way a criticism of the hotel. This is an expensive country to visit & for the money I doubt we could have done much better. The staff were wonderful, friendly, & professional.

Finding a decent room that is affordable in Swiss francs is challenging. I would recommend this hotel with the proviso that you should adjust your expectations downwards by 1 star from other European destinations that you may be familiar with, dollar for dollar.

We stayed in the room on the ground floor next to the breakfast room. The bathroom was not en suite but since we paid a good price we didn't mind. The room has a thick door so minimal sound disturbances. Loved the nice floor and ceiling, and free wifi!

I can confirm what the other reviewers said about the good location and friendly staff, as well as the great breakfast!

The garden is perfect for having a light dinner (supermarkets on the way) with ice cold wine after a long day sight-seeing.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Situated in a quiet, safe neighbourhood it is very accessible to the old town of Lucerne, either by a 15 minute walk or by bus. Buses were a minute's walk from the B&B and available every 5 minutes, on time to the minute - better and more affordable than taxis. We had the attic room with its own downstairs bathroom and airconditioning - very comfortable. The staff are fantastic - nothing was too much trouble and all spoke fluent English. Breakfast included cereals, yummy bread, meat and cheese. Laundry is available at 15 Swiss francs per load and an iron is available for clients to use. We would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: People with walking difficulties are advised to select a downstairs room. Note that the toilet and...

We spent 8 nights at this B&B as a base to visit the area. This was our first time in Switzerland. The staff was very helpful, gave us a lot of information and made us feel at home from the very beginnining of our stay. Of course it would be nice to have a private bathroom but in the end it was not a big problem as the other guests were nice and quiet people. The location is very good, we were afraid of parking problems since the hotel does not provide parking facilities but we always found a place to park using the local system of free parking limited to an hour since 7 am and unlimited from 7 pm until the morning. By the way we regretted renting a car since it is very expensive and public transportation in Switzerland is so good that you can get around easily without worrying about driving and parking.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was full of information and cheer. The breakfasts were a nice departure from what we normally have. The B&B is located near a bus stop, making it very convenient when wanting transportation. At first the lack of a private bathroom was a bit of a concern. It ended up not being a problem at all. We would be happy to stay here again if given the chance.
