“True glory at Mount Pilatus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Wonderful day trip! Highly recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

To maximize views, I recommend from the Lucerne train station, you take the trolley bus #1 to Kriens to "Linde/Pilatus" stop (20 min). Five minute walk to the Kriens Station. Then, a half hour cable car ride to Frakmuntegg to enjoy the surrounding nature & take advantage of the SeilPark Family Fun! Continue on another 5 minute Gondola ride for spectacular views up to Pilatus Kulm.

There are several different walks to take advantage of the glorious surroundings. After your time & snack/meal at the top, take the CogWheel railway 40 minute ride (the steepest cog railway in the world) down to the lake side town of Alpnachstad and take a 50-90 minute boat ride (or you may train) back to Lucerne.

“Beautiful view from the mountain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We took the gondola up to the middle station where the Berghaus Frakmontegg restaurant is. We ate there and then rode the gondola up to the next station. We rented sleds and sledded back down. If you decide to sled, 1. Make sure you put the strap around your wrist because even if you fall off and stop moving, the sled wont. :( 2. If you sled down, choose the easy way rather than te difficult way unless you're an experienced sledder. My teens had a great time and didn't have as much trouble as I did. Make sure you're in good shape if you're doing something physical on the mountain. The air is thin and you'll need to drink extra water because your lungs will need it. Dress warmly if its winter. And make sure your clothes and footwear are waterproof.

“Awesome place and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

We just visited the place on jan 1 2013 and were not dissapointed. Took an 811 am train from Geneva to Lucerne caught the number 1 bus to Linde bus stop and then a short walk to the cable car station. At the midway stop where we need to get off to take the aerial gondola ride to the top we stooped and did some bob sled. Very inexpensive you can rent a double sweater for 20 Swiss francs or a single sweater for 15. Use it for how's oeuvre long you want. It was lovely especially as it started snowing also. The view from the top after the gondola ride was really awesome. Not to be missed place.

“Great place to be with family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

A very nice mountain. Excellent views with a very family-oriented feeling (unlike Titlis). Great place to visit if you are with family and not too much into snow activities. The activities are pretty mild but still lots of fun!

“Breathtaking views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Walk, cable car or train, you'll enjoy it all. This ought to be one of the best places in Europe, outstanding views when there's no cloud. Plenty of walks to suit all and abilities, walk up or take the cable car to different stations. A must do.
