This place is right across from the train station! Pretty key if you don't have a car. It is a beautiful old building, but with modern conveniences such as Starbucks and McDonalds downstairs.

The hotel rooms are spacious and bright. Plenty of room to stretch your legs out and relax. Comfy beds, spacious bathroom, ICE MACHINE (unheard of in Switzerland!) and some English channels on the TV other than CNN Europe and BBC.

The staff was super friendly and helpful.

The only cons are no wifi in rooms, and no air conditioning. They do provide a fan in room, but a summer stay here would be a challenge.

Also, if you are here on a weekend night and leave your windows open for fresh air, expect to hear bar hoppers on the street below until at least 4:30 am. And then the street sweeping begins at 5:30 am.

Overall though, a great hotel with an old world feel. You are steps away from the train station to grab a snack when everything else is closed, and a short walk from the river to cross to the other amazing shopping that Lucerne has. I would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend it to others. Enjoy your stay! Oh, and the breakfast was pretty good too!

We were very pleased with our 1 night stay here. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and there was an entrance hallway area that was nice. The windows blocked any noise and there was a fan in the room which we used. If you go to the lobby you can use Starbucks WIFI at no charge. Super location right across from the train station. Would definitely stay again!

Built in the grand style of the late 19th century, this hotel has been well looked after and retains the grace of yesteryear but with the refinements of the 21st century; we were luck to have an upgrade, which provided us with two very large windows overlooking the lake. The room was spacious and comfortable, no air-conditioning which was a bit of a problem as the temperature outside was getting up to the 30c mark, bit a fan was provided and this provided some relief from the heat. There was a brief note from the hotel staff about the lack of air-conditioning that due to the historic nature of the hotel they were prevented from incorporating this feature? Staff were helpful in providing the upgrade and also the best solution for car parking which was a scratchy card which cost 20CHF per day provided you parked in the “blue zone” which basically covered a fairly large area around the hotel streets. I think the times were from 9am till 6 pm after that it was free. The hotel is fairly easy to find but the entrance/reception area is more difficult as it is in a side road on the western side of the hotel. Also on the ground floor level there is a McDonalds, a bar which is not connected to the hotel and a coffee shop just to add to the confusion. As with most European hotels there is no tea and coffee making facilities and the mini bar charges are expensive. Just across the road in the railway station is a supermarket where the beer and soft drink prices were significantly better if you want better value for money.
Overall a very pleasant experience and would recommend this hotel for a stay of a few days.
