The hotel was just OK. Nothing special. Definitely not worth the price they charge. Breakfast buffet was very good. Service not stellar. Room safe didn't work upon our initial arrival at about 4:00 pm. Safe wasn't repaired until the next afternoon, only after we reminded the front desk. The key is attached to a huge key chain. You can leave the key chain/key at the front desk when you leave. Unfortunately, not once was I asked for any type of ID to prove I should be asking for my room key. The hotel is not far from the train station. However, it is definitely not as convenient to the main lake/Chapel Bridge area. I would recommend a closer hotel.
Watch out for Swiss Quality Hotel's bait and switch routine. I tried to make a reservation two months in advance at the Hotel Waldstätterhoff via the internet. I received an email back from SQH saying the hotel was completely booked. They made an offer at Cascada. Unfortunately I failed to search more and accepted the offer. The bad thing, it was 47 francs more per night than what the internet rate was at Hotel Waldstätterhoff. When we arrived we walked right by Hotel Waldstätterhoff and there was a large sign outside advertising vacancy. After checking in at Cascada I stopped in at Hotel Waldstätterhoff and asked if they had a double room for 3 nights. They did and said they had plenty of rooms. The rate I was quoted walking in off the street was still 27 francs cheaper than Cascada. I realize things change, but I will never believe Hotel Waldstätterhoff was booked when I tried to make the reservation in early April. Unless a large group cancelled a reservation I believe I was sucked into SQH's bait and switch technique! If I can help it, never again will I book a room at a Swiss Quality Hotel again! My mistake for not searching for another hotel and assuming all of the reasonably priced hotels were completely booked.
