Nix. Clean, modern, and minimalistic.
Well the first two adjectives certainly sum up this smart restaurant in Lucerne.
If you’re hungry, you’ll find the portions match up with the final adjective.
And if you’re looking for value for money, then you’ll find the prices are anything but.
Our Knödel was tiny and tasteless (in the sense that there was no taste to it), although it has to be said that the presentation was very tasteful. And that must have been the justification for the price tag. Gram for gram, it worked out nearly as expensive as some precious metals. At least that’s how it seemed to us.
And don’t expect any reasonably priced bottles of wine. SFr 50.00 minimum unless you choose to buy by the deciliter – it still works out at SFr 50.00 a bottle but if you only buy one deciliter and share with your friends you can kid yourself it’s cheaper.
All in all, a triumph of style over substance. This is a place to display your wealth conspicuously. You’ll need to spend a lot to come away feeling satisfied.
If you’re feeling hungry and broke, give it a miss.
We will next time.
