There is a pretty cool lift that takes you up to the hotel from the ground floor. We walked in without a reservation at lunch time, which was fine, but we did feel a bit underdressed as Scala is a pretty nice place (we were both wearing shorts as we had been walking the city). Other people were dressed in suits or a bit more sophisticated. Regardless, the staff was totally unpretentious and really friendly and helpful. They sat us at a nice table with an insanely beautiful view of Lucerne and the lake. Their bread plate was well presented and tasty (with a squeeze drop for the olive oil, pretty cool). We didn't feel like a long heavy meal, so we opted to pass on the fix menu for lunch, but it looked really damn good. My wife ordered the ravioli and I ordered the cavatelli with seafood. Freshest hand made noodles and top quality flavor. They were both the best dishes we tried on our whole trip in Switzerland, and generally speaking the food is pretty good all around Switzerland. It can come out a bit pricey for lunch, relatively, but it turned out well worth it. I can imagine spending 2-3 times more for a dinner and be totally happy.
