“Good restaurant, best for steaks!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013 via mobile

A very nice place close to the General Aviation Terminal and other services. Nice place to have wine, bear and steaks. Portions are a bit small for the price, how ever quality is good!

“You go here for steak - best in Geneva”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

A group of men go here every year after the Geneva motor show. A good ending to a boy's day out at the motor show. It was pretty male this evening but definitely a place for women if they like a good steak and a rather noisy atmosphere. There were a few tête-à-tête couples but this is not the place for a romantic evening.

This restaurant is well-know for its steaks, cooked just as you want it, British style over-cooked to rare and anything in-between. The steak is served with a rich café de paris sauce, chips and salad. The chips and sauce keep coming as much as you can eat but you have to choose the correct size steak with your order. These all have aircraft name from Caravelle to the Airbus 380 (380gms of meat). If you speak nicely to the serving staff, they can roll-out a 500 gram steak. If you are looking for a healthy eating option, this is not it but occasionally, this is the place for an excellent steak. Never been disappointed. Never managed the deserts either. There is a menu with other options than steak but I go for the steak.

Serving staff do a great job. There are not many of them. Friendly, efficient and been there for a number of years. Furniture is quite basic, comfortable with tables pretty close together. Though the restaurant has been rebuilt, it still retains some of the trappings of the old building.

“Steak and more steak”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

It was my first visit, I went with 3 friends who are regulars there and we had a good evening together in noisy, cheerful, 'beery', mainly male surroundings. Rather utilitarian seating and tables close together, but no harm in that..it helped the atmosphere.
I wasn't really given the chance to look at the menu, the only thing we discussed was the size of the steak to be ordered, Caravelle [180 grams], Super Caravelle [260 grams] or the new [Airbus] 380, which was, you guessed it, 380 grams.
The service was friendly and good, although as the evening wore on and the place filled up the girls were pretty stretched and it took some time to get their attention to ask for our bill.
The steak was good, well cooked and served with lashings of excellent chips and Cafe de Paris sauce...a second helping of chips and sauce followed on later.
We passed on the dessert, although the list of home made dishes and bought-in ice cream based sweets was tempting.

“CERN place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

The truth is this is a CERNie local, loads and loads of CERNies eat at L'Aviation as almost a "local pub" , the waiters are as perpetual as their are jokes. The "Super" is indeed super and not expensive for workers. Great place with all that understood. I have friends (including me) who worked or studied at CERN in 1990's and they visit L'Aviation for a weekender every few years
