“Wonderful museum for all ages, especially kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

We like the variety of the display, also the boutique with the different animals, stuffed and in plastic.

“K.K.Zoo Exhibition - Kids were fascinated!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

The Museum of Natural History currently has 2 levels under renovation, but the ground floor (local animals and birds) and the third floor (dinosaurs) are both open for visits. Cafeteria is open, and Janus, the double-headed turtle, is still alive and doing well on the ground floor.

An amazing addition to the museum fun is the KK Zoo on the third floor, which is, in fact, a temporary exhibition of kaka, caca, or droppings, as scientists refer to it. Kids were shocked! Imagine a regular child who's not allowed to touch animal droppings on the street, say the word "kaka" out loud or compare the food they eat with this infamous object, then going to the Museum to discover IT all over the place! :-) Don't worry, it's not the actual animal droppings on display, but a plastic version, looking pretty real though.

KK Zoo will be there until April 2013, so you still have some time to go.

At the beginning they have different kinds of animals displayed and their droppings next to them. Afterwards, there is a small movie theater showing a movie where 2 scientists are walking around the forest, looking for animal droppings, and trying to guess which animal it belongs to (our kids were so excited to see that there are adults doing such "silly" stuff).

Then there's a more scientific KK section where it is visually explained how DNA can be identified by performing several analyses on animal (or human) droppings, with a small interactive part to it.

Last section is where you "enter" a plastic pile of animal droppings (2.5 meters high, at least), which is perforated by worms and other creatures. This is where there are exhibits explaining how flies, small insects etc. feed on animal droppings. Very interactive section (kids are suggested to help a beetle roll a pile of droppings, to smell cow's droppings, to push your hand inside a box and guess who's droppings are there, etc.). Naturally, there is no real KK anywhere around, but kids get excited thinking that there might be and laughing like crazy watching others smelling/touching you know what...

Have fun!

“More english please?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

Given that it was a free museum, I did not have much expectations for it. However, it turned out to be a pretty 'well-equipped' museum with aplenty of displays, just quite a shame I didn't understand French.

“Free Entry Museum for Young and Old”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

This is a beautiful museum free of charge open to everyone.
Considering the fact that you don't pay this place is so clean you could almost eat from the floor.
They do a great job in always having new expositions on the top level such as right now the museum of poo - yes showing in a very friendly way what different excrements you can have with even a 50x increased in size expo of fly and other insect poo
just great
