This hotel had the atmosphere, service and appearance of a small budget hotel, even though they price and market themselves as a 3-star hotel. But I would put it at the top end of budget-hotel category, because the room seemed newly-renovated and they offered more amenities than do most other budget hotels.

Good - Convenient location between the station and the lake (5 min walk from either) right off Rue des Alpes; we didn't feel affected by the sex establishments nearby at all. Room appeared newly-renovated, including sparkling bathroom and brand-new air conditioner. Free wireless internet access in room, if you bring a laptop. Breakfast buffet was great with lots of yummy food choices.

Bad - Housekeeping was subpar; shower curtain smelled with lots of mildew stain; in-room safe missing batteries; bed mattress cover was removed by the housekeeper after our first night and left tossed above the dusty top of the closet. Couple of the front-desk staff were rather unfriendly.

I paid about $150 USD per night for a double room. Rather expensive for a budget hotel. But this is Geneva (where prices run high) and I believe there are many standard hotels in town that offer less amenities and shabbier rooms. Plus, Admiral's location is convenient. So we don't regret having stayed here and would consider staying there again.

After reading some not so nice reviews about the hotel after booking i did get a little nervous about staying at the hotel. Let me tell u after visiting the hotel, there was nothing to be worried about. The hotel is clean and tidy and in a great location. My b/f and i walked everywhere. Yes there is a sex shop next door but u really have no need to go down that way unless that is what u are looking for. I really enjoyed my stay at the admiral, which was reasonably priced, the breakfast was lovely and the staff helpful.

For the price it is a dainty little hotel with everything you could need like free WiFi, mini bar, breakfast etc. Although beside some sex shops to the right there is no need to go down there anyway as we always went left to where we wanted to go.

Room was clean and suitable although I found having the toilet and sink in seperate rooms slightly odd.

Breakfast was nice with cereal, crossiants etc.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for our annual anniversary trip. Having read previous reviews I was pretty sure that location would be fine and this was the case. A number of previews reviews have commented on the sex shop next door and the working girls at the end of the block. The bottom line is that if you turn left as you leave the hotel, you don't even pass the sex shop or the working girls. Trust me, there is no reason to turn right out of the hotel as it takes you towards a poorer area with more sex shops and strip clubs. There are no decent shops, restaurants or sites to see. On the other hand, turn left out of the hotel and you are less than 5 minutes to the train and bus stations and a pleasant 10 minute walk across the bridges towards the old town. The hotel is fine, clean, bright, reasonably sized rooms with good bathrooms, minibar, fan and TV. Our room had been recently refurbished. The breakfast was pretty good, the usual continental buffet style with ham, salami, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, yoghurts, fresh and tinned fruit, OJ, Grapefruit Juice, fresh croissants, rolls and bread and a good selection of jams, chocolate spread and spreading cheeses. The only negative being that the meats and cheeses were supermarket packet style but they were okay. The staff were helpful if not particularly cheery. We found the price, location and quality to be well up to the standard expected of a European 3-star hotel. It cost us £70 for a double room with breakfast, not bad in a city whose basic restaurants typically charge £10 for a basic cheese fondue, essentially consisting of bread and melted cheese (The dirty, robbing, B's)! The Admiral is spot on and you will be hard pushed to find a better deal for the same quality anywhere else in the city.

  • Liked — Convenient location with bright, well appointed rooms
  • Disliked — The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the people next door
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take earplugs and to avoid the Red Light District always turn left as you exit the hotel

We stayed one night at the Admiral, which was a good value for Geneva, an expensive city. The room, on the fifth floor, was very attractive, clean, and comfortable. Free wireless internet. Breakfast (included) was excellent. The location, a short walk from the train station and from the lake, was very good. Our only problem was noise: we like fresh air, so left the windows open, and street noise was considerable for most of the night.
