“Red light terror”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW via mobile

Between the all night noise of drunken fights and police sirens and the morning construction work there was only an hour or so of relative quiet. Completely unable to sleep.

Convenient location only a couple of minutes from train station, and the receptionist was friendly. I stayed here on a colleagues advice but in spite of the convenience would never stay here again. What use is it to save a few minutes on transport if you are completely exhausted?

The hotel is situated in what I would politely call "the meat packing district" which basically means, prostitutes are outside the door. It was dangerous. their pimps blocked you moving. Never again! they stood outside your door and cornered you, the hotel would do nothing about this. this is not somewhere I would feel safe. a few rooms were being fumigated as we were walking up to the top floor. the staff were just rude.. I had to repeatedly ask if they had a discount for parking and then in the end the gave me a 50% discount ticket but she refused to do it otherwise. It was awful. this was not as advertised. I felt threatened and unsafe. this is not an area for anyone, children or couples. the hotel itself was basic. never ever again. if you book this place then your a fool as you have been warned. no free wifi and the food looked and tasted like left overs

Room Tip: dont book here

Although in a red light district, it is just 3-5 minutes from everything you might need as a tourist in Geneva. The area is safe with police patrolling 24/7. Maybe not an area for families with small children but definitely for people who look for a cheap, clean and interesting place to stay. Great arabic restaurants around with good and affordable food. If i visit again my girlfriend and I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: higher floors have less noise, ask if the bathroom in renovated,

greeted by a sour face receptionist. hotel didn't have the basics amnesties like toothbrush and toothpaste.
they even ask for my partner's passport for checking in when he's actually swiss
my luggage didn't arrive in time and my partner already told them in french regarding informing me when the luggage arrive. there is no communication between the receptionist.my luggage was delayed and supposed to be send to the hotel. have informed them to call me when it reached (was supposed to reach latest 6pm at hotel)....around 10pm made a call to receptionist, said there's nothing. at midnight i personally came down to ask and said there's nothing without even checking.
here i am without clean clothes for 2 days and finally at 5am i came down to ask again, and said still didn't arrive. made a call to the courier and they said it was delivered yesterday to the hotel! got a call 5mins later after i made the call to the courier and they said my luggage is actually in the hotel.
went down to pick up...instead of apologising for their mistake, the fella just apologised that his colleague didn't inform him. UNACCEPTABLE especially when i checked with the receptionists numerous times the day before regarding my luggage.
I won't recommend to stay here at all cos of the bad service and also lack of basics items in the room (oh my kettle was broken and they didn't even know till i inform)....
doesn't even deserve 1 star.....worst hotel i've stayed in Switzerland

Firstly the positives:
Rooms are clean and warm. Bathroom was sufficient and shower was good.
Unfortunately this is where it stops.
The bath was mouldy which gave off a mouldy smell. The hotel is very dated and could do with freshening up. The staff were fairly friendly. He breakfast was expensive for what you get. He wifi was again expensive and kept cutting out.
The fact that the hotel is in the middle of the red light district bothered me somewhat and felt uncomfortable when outside.
Overall too expensive for what you get and would not stay there again.

Good:
Fairly cheap compared to rest of central Geneva area
2-3 mins away from gare cornavin station which is central Geneva
Bathroom was hotel standard, clean and pleasant
Well connected to transport, trams, trains, and buses, only 10-15 mins train ride from airport.

Bad:
No free wifi!! They just use this to try and take more money from you
Room was very outdated and had old interior like carpets, curtains etc had very creepy paintings hanging on the wall, looked like someone threw anticlimb paint on a canvas. Aircon/heater machine had buttons missing, some part were burned off.
Though it wasn't particularly dirty it didn't seem entirely clean, maybe it was just how old it all looked.
Some reception Staff are disinterested/slightly unapproachable but nothing to complain about

As some people pointed out it is very close to red light district, which meant 24/7 you would see hookers, bodyguards and random people standing around the area near the bars shops etc but nobody ever bothers you it seemed pretty safe. I didn't find it noisey where I stayed on the 2nd floor.

Overall it is ok if you're staying for a few days and will only use the hotel to sleep, however hotels closer to the airport will be cheaper, cleaner, more modern and provide free wifi and is still close to Central so I'd recommend doing that. The lady at reception mentioned to me it would be closed for a few months for renovation so it could be quite different soon.

Close to landmarks, supermarkets, shops and restaurants. Free wifi in the train station, Starbucks and McDonald's.

Room Tip: Higher the better, less noise
