“Central location, superb bed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Arrived in the evening, after a tiring day of skiing. The nice receptionist gave me a free upgrade, so I stayed in a juniorsuite with a roof-terrace on the top floor. After a long, hot bath I climbed into a big, comfy bed -and slept like a baby throughout the night!
Tip: when you check in to a Geneva-hotel, you will be given a free public transportation card, which is valid until the day of your departure. This is also valid on the airport-train! When you arrive at Geneva Airport, you can get a free ticket to the train into town at a number of machines in the airport, so there is no need to pay for a taxi.

Room Tip: Higher floors are recommended, because of trafficnoise.

My friend and I visited Geneva and this was the hotel we booked for the last night of our stay. The male receptionist was SO rude. He didn't even look up when he was talking to us and checking us in.

The hotel's location is close to the train station but in the sketchiest of areas/streets. We definitely tried to get back to our hotel by 10pm to be safe. At night, there were constantly loud noises and shouting, and the windows didn't block out the sound.

The room itself is fine. Clean and comfortable but the security issues far outweigh the benefits of staying there. Terrible experience. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I did not realize the hotel is surrounded by brothels and the streets at night are drugdealer-owned. The ruckus coming from the streets was horrible, yelling, fighting, screaming, and obviously no police patrols. I couldn't open the window because of the noise and had to switch on the A/C. It was old (like the rest of the appliances, furniture and fixtures) and rickety so its rumbling thankfully covered most of the outside noise. There is little insulation between rooms. The room was cheap (CHF 130.-/night for a single bed) but I won't return. It's very conveniently located, a few minutes from train station and lakeside but the Nash in the Servette is definitely better. I abstained from breakfast because there are numerous better options a few minutes away.

Room Tip: If you choose this hotel on the basis of price, make sure to bring ear-plugs!

Conveniently located a few blocks from the railway station, is definitely the loudest hotel I hade the opportunity to visit in this town... you have tons of better alternatives in the same area.
I did not even try the breakfast because I just wanted to leave the place...

Positives
1. The hotel is an excellent value by Geneva standards. My room was large, reasonably clean, and comfortable. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
2. The location was convenient to the main railway station and the hub of the tram system. The central business district and the UN organizations were either within walking distance or an easy tram ride away. And like other hotels, a free transit pass came with the room.
3. The clientele was a nice mix of tourists and business people, international guests and Swiss nationals, young and old.

Negatives . . . with mitigating actions
1. Wifi was an expensive option. If you do not want to pay, use the computer in the lobby or stop by the many Starbucks and McDonalds within three blocks.
2. Breakfast was not extensive but was expensive. Go out for petit dejeuner or drop by the COOP, Manor or little neighborhood stores to stock a bit of yogurt, cheese, fruit and crackers for breakfast.
3. My small in room refrigerator did not work. The desk staff kindly offered to hold perishables in a hotel refrigerator. I ended up dangling a bit of yogurt and cheese in a plastic bag out my window.
4. As noted in other reviews, the neighborhood around the Nash Ville and Novotel Hotels is sketchy, though not very dangerous. Use common sense.

Room Tip: If visiting in warm weather, request a room on one of the higher floors to get above street noise

This is a decent hotel and is very conveniently located - less than 5 min walk to Cornavain train station and to Lake Geneva in the other direction. The hotel is a little expensive but then......it is Geneva. It is very neat and clean. Noise from one room carries from one to the other, so be careful.

The hotel is very claen, well maintained and a 5/10 minute walk from the train station. Staff were very helpful & let us keep oour luggage in store as we arrived prior to check in.

This gave us time to have a walk around to the old town, but generally I woul say Geneva is a business district & a 'stay one night' place.

There are prostitutes hanging round the streets and some shady guys but they dont bother you so if you are pretty savvy and want somewhere convenient, reasonable & clean to stay then this is your hotel. We didnt here any noise and we were right on the main street, if you are over sensitive in terms of hearing or prudish then pay £100 more/ night somewhere else.

I wouldnt recommend families or single females staying here but then I wouldnt recommend Geneva in general.

Room Tip: If you are a bad sleeper ask for a quieter room.
