“Weekend break in Geneva”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Really nice little hotel. Feels much better than the three stars it officially has. Clean room which was well furnished and decorated. Slightly less salubrious location than some but very convenient for the station and near enough to the lake. There was a busy street market / boot fair on over the whole weekend outside.

Staff were very helpful and all in all a great place to stay. We would highly recommend it.

Great hotel with welcoming staff. Room was great ( we got upgraded to a junior suite) and very specious and very clean. Lots of channels on the TV and also the most quality TV (a new Samsung). The bed was comfortable and well fixed.
We traveled with our son (almost 2 year old) and they made us a lovely baby-cot.
We stayed 2 nights in a different rooms (one junior suite and one double) and both rooms are excellent. Breakfast was very good ( 18 CHF per person - I thought this is expensive but after traveling Switzerland I found that this breakfast really worth 18 CHF).

Solid three-star offer from the Kipling Manotel. Excellent service from Jerome upon check-in, and good quality room. Very clean and good breakfast (reasonably priced for Geneva). Restaurant at the Hotel Royal (sister hotel) over the road was good value for bistro dinner.

Room Tip: Restaurant at sister hotel (Royal) we found to be very good; contrary to other reviews we've see...

Friendly check in and fairly friendly check out people. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Ate a meal at the sister hotel restaurant edelweiss upon hotel recommendation - horrific - see separate review. Got upgrade to a nice executive room. Cost at weekends is about €140 per night for a double - weeknights it effectively doubles. Wifi worked fine. Car parking on site - you need to book and be advised there may be an issue if you intend leaving your car in the hotel car park on your check out day if you want to go sight seeing etc. We said we would leave it there until maybe 3-4pm, we left it longer - maybe 6pm, and it wasn't clamped or anything. I guess if there limited with spaces they will need them for other guests but just be aware of this as parking in Geneva is horrific. In reality I wouldn't stay in Geneva again and wouldn't recommend it mainly because of the very high prices of accommodation during the week and food drink etc. Very easy to visit it as a day trip from somewhere like Annecy - beautiful place. This hotel is fine - clean, modern etc and is fairly well located. It is a 3 star hotel and as a 3 star hotel I would rate it as good. I have noticed in Europe there is sometimes quite a difference between 3 & 4 star hotels.

I stayed here over the weekend, to get to Geneva most people arrive into the main train station, if you come out of the station (the side where the trams are) and take a left you can't miss the hotel!

Its a 5 minute walk with loads of bars / restaurants (even a McDonalds) in the immediate vicinity, you are also only 5 minutes walk from the lake.

The best bit of the hotel will be your arrival at the reception, the staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to show you what is best to see/do in Geneva and mark everything down on a map for you. They also explain all of the various methods of transport around the city and present you with free travel passes (all hotels have these passes).

Our room was large for European standards, and had a comfy large bed with a huge LCD TV which has French/German/Spanish/Italian and UK channels (BBC1/2, ITV, C4 and C5!).

Bathroom was clean and the shower had a decent level of power. We got a good deal using booking.com, at weekends Geneva is quite quiet so make sure you make sure you find a good deal.

Hotel is a short walk from the train station which is great since the airport is 7 minutes away by train. It's right off a main street with easy access to buses and trams. Although the street it's on is a bit shabby the surrounding neighborhood is nice and there are lots of places to eat close by. It's also a short walk to the lake and the Pont Montblanc which leads to the old city. The room was not too small by European standards and the bathroom was actually quite spacious. Like most hotels these days they want you to reuse your towels by hanging them up; only problem is there are no towel bars. The hotel is very quiet and the breakfasts are pretty good. Price-wise, I am told it is fairly reasonable by Geneva standards. We've stayed there a few times and will do so again next year.

It takes about 3 minutes to walk from Geneva train station to the hotel. The room is very well equipped and furnished, and you just know you'll have a great night sleep after a busy day in Geneva by walking into the room.

The room is small, but helpful service at the reception and overall room quality really makes it a great hotel worthy of everyone's notice.

Big thumbs up.
