The thing you need to know about the Romana is that it is in the heart of "United Nations" land, with UNHCR, ITU, WIPO etc all nearby. So, if you girls want to date an international civil servant, this could be a place to pull .... then again, maybe not. For years I have gone to Romana for after work drinks. The good thing is that once they get to know you, you get free pizzas to help get the drinks down you. At one point the piazzola fell in love with me and would send out heart shaped pizzas - which sadly are just as fattening as the round ones - my love handles grew due to many a calorie consumed here. I have always found the service to be good, the prices reasonable and the food average to good.
To give an example, there is a great pizza with gorgonzola. Very tasty. Just make sure you take a litre of water to bed with you as I find the salt content keeps me awake thirsty all night.
In the past we have also reserved the "back" room for events. It isn't spectacularly beautiful, just plain and functional. The restaurant has always been very helpful when arranging events at the Romana.
So, after-work drinks are perfect here - especially in summer when you can enjoy the terrace. For dinner, it's also good but I prefer it during the week than at the weekend - it just seems to have more people and a better atmosphere.
