“Has the potentinal for greatness but it ranks below par”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Excellent location, near the famous "bear square" and river Aare, used to be an old deposit for Tram (trains) however the interior failed to capture all of it. Hight cealing, long non significant tables and trying to bring beer food with relavely average prices for Switzerland.
However it did fail to deliver what we expected of good food.
We all had game meat (wild boars) and usually tender and juicy it was tough and gummy. Portion were far to big that made u full before starting. Waitress despite being polite, was not very knowledgable about any of the seasonal dishes.
One of the only good points is the self made beers that taste great. Would not recommend it!

“Listed as inexpensive to moderate, it is really expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

It was listed in the travel guide as a good place to try genuine Swiss food. I'm sorry to say I was not impressed by the food and how expensive it was.

“Cheaper than most places”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

First of all Bern is very very expensive, so for what you get here it is quite cheap. When we arrived there was a 45 min wait to be seated inside (it had been raining throughout the day). It was undercover outside so we sat outside and got served straightaway. My sausage were stiff and a but dry but the Rosti with gravy made up for it. My partners Rosti with bacon and cheese was delicious and I'm glad she couldn't finish it! Half litre beer was 6.80 francs. Overall a pleasant dining experience, particularly as the waiters are very friendly.

“Good brasserie food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

This restaurant has a good menu, staff speaks German, French and English. Don't be surprised if you share your table with somebody else, in this restaurant, many tables are joined together, it's cultural, we looked around and noticed that the locals liked talking to each others while eating (even if they don't know who you are). If you are in the canton of Bern, you have to try the famous Rösti. It is a Swiss dish consisting mainly of potatoes. We knew it before going there so it allowed us to compare and theirs was tasty. They have high chairs for babies.
