“Good noodles - fast services”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

today I hade dinner at Mishio in Bern. The restaurant is located right in the center of the city - close to the parliament.

I enjoyed fried noodles with chicken, shrimps and some vegtable. They serve Appenzeller beer in the restaurant - from a small brewery located in the Canton of Appenzell. East part of Switzerland.

The food was served fast and the waitress was friendly. So will defintely go again to this place.

“Nice and decent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

Was at Berne earlier this week on a day trip. Was looking for a decent place where we could find a place to sit and have a nice lunch. There were a lot of places around near the Parliament, but very crowded, atleast for a week day. Noticed this joint and decided to try. Actually, we were expecting it to be a Japanese restaurant (the name sounded Japanese), but it turned out to be an Asian one mostly catering to South East Asia.
Nice location, plenty of sitting and if you want, you can sit on the terrace as well. Surprisingly, they had menus available in English and the staff spoke in English as well, which made it quite easier. I was worried how to read and place a order in German.
The menu predominantly is South East Asian - a mix of Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian cuisines. It's not an exhaustive list but has a decent selection. Despite the crowd, the service was quick. The portions were large for someone with a normal appetite. In fact, we couldn't finish what we had ordered. Had a chicken satay, Tom Yam soup, a hot pot (rice noodles with prawn) and prawns in a green curry.
Overall, a nice experience though I can see that some reviewers found it dissapointing.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

This retaurant is located in central Berne on the first floor and has a terrace with a nice view. The interior reminded me of a canteen (including the uncomfortable chairs). Had the mixed salad with sesame dressing (8.9 CHF) and Pad Kaprow Gai - Chicken with chili, Thai basil, including rice (23.9 CHF); both dishes astonishingly salty....had to order another drink (which took aged to be served, although the restaurant was nearly empty...had to remind the waitress) the salad was uninspiring (green salad with 4 slices of tomatos), the dressing didn't taste like sesame at all. The chicken was ok, but I had far better ones. At least the waitress acted professionally upon my complaint by offering a new main dish, but at this moment, I just wanted to pay and leave...disappointing !

“Nice surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

In Bern old town, just a few meters from parliament.
A short menu of asian food served in large portions.
The service was very quick and the waiter always attentive to us.
One negative point, it closes at 10pm.

“Crowded lunchtime restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2011

We ate here on 17 February, after looking at options for lunch. Mishio is at first floor level and was crowded when we arrived around 13.00. We had to sit at a table with high stools. We had three soups at an average price of CHF 22 (about £15) a 50 cc of merlot wine and 3 glasses of water.. Service was ok and we liked the soups. But this is not cheap by UK standards. Our bill for 3 was CHF 105 (about £70)
