Matisse is one of the most creative and inspiring restaurants in the world. I dined at many top restaurants in New York (e.g. Jean Georges, Per Se, The Modern) and Boston (O Ya, Clio, Journeyman) - Matisse is at the very top. The food is of amazing complexity and sophistication, combining dozens of ingredients into explosions of flavor. And the presentations are stunning pieces of art. It is not cheap but Matisse offers so many amuse-bouches and intermezzos that a 4-course meal consists of 8-10 courses. Chef de Cuisine Erik Schroeter (former chef at Viva!) is a genius. The one Michelin star is well deserved, and it is only a matter of time until he adds another one.
