Stayed 3 nights in one of their living room suite rooms. Very nice. Great view of the river, the living room suites jut out from the building so windows are on two sides of the room.

Food was very nice, staff was friendly, great location.

The room must have been fairly recently renovated (last year or so anyway). Very modern/upscale features integrated nicely with old styling. Bathroom, for example, had toilet with one of those electronic toilet seats for combination bidet functions. Heated floor in bathroom was nice. Room temp controls and awnings controlled by touch-pad that any one (even me) could figure out.

The room furniture and bed were very comfortable and the room was amazingly quiet.

For sleeping you might want to take a big safety pin or strong clip. The primary bedroom window covering didn't block much light. There are decorative side panels that are very thick but don't pull across the window - they are just tied up/sway to each side. They are big enough to cover the window - just the rings on the rod don't allow that. So, we used a safety pin to hold them together about head high and that helped keep it dark in the bedroom.

The building is magnificent. The rear backs onto the Rhine River. There is a large room that serves tea and an equally large adjacent bar. In good weather, you can be served on the riverfront terrace. The concierge desk was extremely helpful. The concierge that was usually on duty spoke 6 languages! The rooms have beautiful elegance and all modern amenities. A touch screen allows you to turn off or on the heated bathroom floor and the heated towel rack as well as adjust the heating or cooling. Housekeeping service was great. The sumptuous breakfast costs a small fortune. We ate it once but otherwise, there are good coffee shops or patisseries a block or so from the hotel.

I had booked a package to include a 7 course dinner in the restaurant Gourmet Cheval Blanc,

a deluxe Jr. room with a river view,

breakfast and a ticket for mobility transport (bus and whatever)

for the (single weekend package) rate of 445.CHF. ($379.00 USD)

Considering the rates posted for weekdays

for the same room (no extras) was 680 CHF ($580.00 USD)

When I arrived at the hotel, I wasn't feeling well and had decided against the dinner.

That dropped the rate to 310 CHF ($264.00 USD).

And for that I got the Jr. room, king bed,

2 comfortable chairs

since it had been remodeled in 2006, all the woodwork, spreads, curtains were in excellent condition

a plate of pastries deliver to the room with a note from the manager,

a bouquet of fresh flowers,

river view for both the bedroom and the bath, free mini bar,

Bang & Olufsen 40" BioVision 7 TV (that was Amazing) ,

Marble bath, (tub and separate shower)

Molton Brown products. The pillows and Duvets were so soft, I wanted to buy them.

The rate was wonderful, the room was even better.

Breakfast in a dining room on the Rhein served a good selection for the buffet,

but also had a chef on hand to prepare eggs of your choice.

Cappuccino was not extra.

Nothing like a 6 star hotel to make your day.

“lovely view of the Rhine”

Les Trois Rois

The hotel's staff is excellent and our rooms enjoyed a lovely view of the Rhine. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Basel's main historic sites but mastering Basel's traffic restrictions made getting to the hotel by car the first time quite tricky although it was very easy thereafter. The rooms were pretty clean but the way the hotel has been modernised - i.e. reproducing the nooks and crannies of a century ago - also makes it very difficult to clean and some of the detail is inevitably getting bypassed already. Breakfasts and tea on the terrace were fine. Dinner in the lower quality in-house restaurant was not so good. While their portions are aimed at the anorexic with excellent microscopic vision, the standard of cooking in the better quality in-house restaurant was excellent.

We stayed here for one night. We had a very nice room with balcony overlooking river.
The hotel has been refurbished recently (last year) and so everything is nice and clean and new,
The room had lots of cupboard space, posh B&O TV but annoyingly like so many hotels in Switzerland our double bed was really two beds pushed together with two separate duvets. Why is that ? They say it’s a king size and it isn’t.
This was supposed to be a romantic night !

We ate in the hotels Cheval Blanc restaurant and had the big gourmand menu - it was very good and not overwhelming. Compared to rest of Switzerland this was good value meal for a Michelin standard dinner.
The staff at this hotel are very good - front office, restaurant etc.

If we lived in Basel we would drop in here for a drink after shopping - but get there early for afternoon tea as they run out of cakes early.

Overall a good standard hotel which isn't too stuck up.
