“Nice hotel - breakfast needs more variety!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

A positive experience overall at the Euler. This is a fairly old/historic hotel (or "grand", as these hotels call themselves euphemistically), so expect floor crackings and "tired" furniture. The rooms are OK, and staff is generally competent.

My biggest issue is with the breakfast: there simply isn't enough variety and most of the food in not very appetising! There are also a lot of flies!

Dear guest

We thank you for visiting the Hotel Euler as well as for you review. We appreciate your honest and constructive feedback.

Indeed, the Hotel Euler is a family-owned 147 years old historical building, with charme and patina associated. Nevertheless, we work hard to keep our bijou in a good shape and plan a soft refurbishment in a couple of weeks.

We also constantly work on the improvement of your breakfast and add more and more home-made items.

We hope to welcome you soon again to show you the progress we made in the meantime!

I stayed here on business. My room was extremely comfortable and had all the conveniences I needed. When I blew the fuse the young man from maintenance fixed it promptly. I discovered later that the lack of electricity wiped out the programming on my TV. Again the same guy from maintenance was on it and got it working again.

I have stayed in Hotel Euler on 18thOct,14 night and 21st-24thOct,14nights. It i s located stright away is in the corner of Besel SBB train terminal and across the tram terminal as well. As a traveler, I got a free pass to acess on buses and trams after I checked in. The front desk staff is nice and friendly . There is a round table on each floor as a mini self service cafe corner with coffee maker and pot... Please help yourself for cups of tea and coffee. There is also a big cupboard full of clean towels, pillowcases and tissue rolls you can take your room if you need those. Since the socket in Switzerland is totally different to other European countries, I had to borrow one adapter from the front desk and asked them about activation of free wifi access. I stayed twice within seven days and I caught train and tram easily to travel along the railway.

However, there are two things I MUST remind other travelers ... Firstly , All of the hotel rooms are non-smoking rooms. The hotel may charge extra CHF 300 for cleaning up ashes and buds.
Secondly ,the hotel only provides one glass bottle of mineral water for ever staying period...so get yourself bottles of water from the supermarket in the train terminal or convenient store or you have to go out to the corridor for boiled water in the middle of the night.

We chose the Hotel Euler as a convenient location close to the Basel Bahnhof but were impressed with the general comfort and great value of this fine old inner city hotel. Our concerns that it would be noisy in our front facing room only one story up proved completely unfounded and the espresso coffee facilities on each floor was a pleasant bonus.
We were also provided with free Basel travel passes so getting around the city and surrounds was a hassle free treat. The hotel parking options are a little pricy so a car is almost an impediment to the pleasures of this lovely old city.
All in all a very pleasant mid range hotel and very good value for money.

Average hotel. Nicely located near train station. Front desk manager left bad taste. I have made a mistake in my booking and the manager (I think Ms. Miller) could care less and charged me for a full night which I never used. I'd personally look for a more customer friendly place.

Dear Mallya

Many thanks for staying with us as well as for sharing your comment with us and other travellers.

We deeply regret that the no-show-fee cast a cloud over your stay with us. Being a small property with a high average occupancy, every no-show causes a damage that we cannot compensate any more. Therefore, we ask for a creditcard guarantee for reservations and expect from our customers that they also apply to the rules as we do.

I remain at your full disposal for any further assistence and wish you all the best.

Stayed overnight at the Euler this week, I arrived very early and the staff were very welcoming and made sure my room was ready in about 30 minutes. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Also a coffee machine on every floor was very convenient. Only gripe I have was the chain on the door which was a bit tricky to use. But I would certainly stay here again...

We stayed there for one night and we were upgraded to 4 star room. The conditions of the room were high standard. They also give free passes to use for public transport in Basel which was an amazing offer.
It is the closest to Basel railway station. 1 min walk.
Staffs were friendly, and we had a perfect stay there
