Description: Sumptuous in every way. The Brasserie has an impressive landscape painting covering one entire wall. It also has antique gilt-framed mirrors. The panoramic windows also offer fabulous views of the Rhine. The restaurant serves a selection of French-Swiss specialities such as Entrecte de boeuf and Zricher Kalbsgeschnetzeltes (a local dish of diced veal). The restaurant has attractively laid tables and black upholstered chairs and appeals to hotel guests and tourists. The service is perfect, polite and friendly. Fancy a glass of wine? The Brasserie has an outstanding selection fine wine from which to choose.

“Lovely location for a special birthday dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We came here to celebrate my birthday and had a really lovely evening. Our table overlooked the Rhine and allowed us to enjoy the gradual onset of evening.

My starter was beautiful to look at and delicious: cubed raw salmon with cubes of cucumber and avocado dressed with a flavourful light dressing - perfect for a warm summer evening. Our mains were wonderful too as was a rather special half bottle of Montrachet. Service was very friendly and attentive but never intrusive.

A great place for a special celebration, but not overly formal or intimidating.

“Good food, good ambiance, excellent service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

We were lucky to get a table next to the window, here you have a beautiful view on the river Rhine and Basel itself. We choose both the "Menu de la Brasserie", a four course dinner with some nice wines.
The staff is very good and serve the different courses at your own pace. We changed the last course for a selection of different cheeses (delicious).
Yes, the brasserie is perhaps a bit expensive, but it is worth!

“Where does Sunday Brunch become Sunday Lunch? Right here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We had booked Sunday Brunch some months in advance, as there always seems to be a waiting list, and friends had recommended the experience. My wife and I, and our 2 year old arrived just before 12.00, and the Brasserie was still being set up for the all you can eat Brunch Buffet. We weren't sure what to expect, except excellent service, as we had always received this on previous visits to the restaurants and bar. However, we should have listened more carefully to the briefing from the waiter.

We started with a bottle of Champagne, very nice and with views over the river, this was a great start. There was a wide selection of cereals, and extensive bread/toast selection. But we focused immediately on the salad/deli bar, a selection of cold meats and fish. The steak tartare was delicious, as was the duck mousse, but it was the wide selection of prawns and smoked salmon where we eagerly filled our plates, not once but twice. Big Mistake!

At 13.00, the laid out the hot buffet, a selection of mains, including a whole salmon, and pan fried beef sirloin. Not only this, but as we contemplating whether to stay all afternoon, small child allowing, they then started replacing the cereals with the most amazing selection of desserts. Brunch had become Lunch. By this time we only had a little room left, so we saved this for the freshly prepared vanilla sabayon with Rhubard - sublime.

At CHF258.00 for two, this is an expensive Brunch, but with a bottle of Champers, and all you can eat Sunday Lunch, we thought it was worth it, and we have booked to go back again!

“Delightful lunch in Basel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Recently had lunch at this little gem of a hotel (often referred to as the Three (Trois) Kings (Rois) Hotel ) on a recent business trip to Basel. The Brasserie has a very relaxed and leisurely ambience, with delightful views of the Rhine. We chose to go a-la-carte, though a set lunch menu was also on offer. The cuisine is a mix of swiss and french dishes, and I ordered the gnocchi in a cream sauce with vegetables and cheese, which was appetising. I ended with a berry cheesecake pie with a biscuit crumble base for desert, and that was simply outstanding. Our waiter was very enthusiastic and attentive, setting high service standards. It is expensive, but thats Switzerland for you !
