“A lovely place to stay in a lovely town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

My husband and I spent four days in Perugia, after a week in Orvieto for the winter jazz festival. So much is said about Venice, Rome and Florence, but we thought Perugia was as interesting as these cities. We weren't the least prepared to see medieval in the scale of what Perugia offers. And San Fiorenzo was the perfect complement to the experience: the building is fantastic with its history and character, the room very clean and functional, the hosts Luigi, Monica, and their two boys are a delight and extremely helpful, the breakfast has an irresistible local flavor, and it is situated in an extremely convenient location. We plan to attend the summer jazz festival in Perugia in the future, and most definitely want to stay at San Fiorenzo again.

We stayed in Perugia in between visits to Florence and Rome, and it was a perfect way to slow down a little and live like a local. We chose San Fiorenzo due to all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and because of the history of the building. We stayed in the Suite Minor, and it was perfect for us. It was roomy and comfortable, and in a perfect location to explore the town. Monica and Luigi were fabulous hosts, from the initial information we received to the very convenient ride to the train station when we left. Breakfast each day was plentiful and delicious, especially the crostata Monica had made using her grandmother’s recipe. We were fortunate to be in town for the Fiera di Morti, and we attended a nearby street market, and a much larger one on the other side of town. Lots of bargains, good food, and fun! We loved our time in Perugia and our stay at San Fiorenzo. Grazie, Monica e Luigi!

My son and I travelled around Italy by train for a month and found this a very special place to stay.
The Maoir suite was full of character and I agree with what other reviewers have said about the location of the B & B, the ambience of the building and the generosity of the hosts. Lovely breakfasts - anything we could ask for & the television put onto an english speaking channel. We used the escalators to get up and down the hill to the bus station for visits to Assissi and Gubio and our host wouldn't allow us to get a taxi back to the station when we were leaving but insisted on taking us - now, that's service! A memorable experience indeed. Thank you.

We stayed for almost a week in Perugia in August and this B&B, with it's great service and features made our stay very comfortable. The breakfast is very luxurious and offers so much choice that you can make it entirely continental, italian or mix the way you prefer. From freshly cut fruit to homemade pastries to muesli, toast, a range of cheeses and meat, it was all there.

The room was cool, because the building has thick walls which keeps out the summer heat. This was a blessing as the outdoor temperatures were very high at the time and then a cool room is great to come home to. The furniture is really classy and well chosen. A water cooker and a fridge were also in the room which is convenient to make a tea or keep fresh some foods or drinks you buy.

It is located in a street of the old centre of Perugia so every evening you walk less than five minutes and you're in the middle of main squares and the buzzling evening atmosphere.

We had a rental car during our entire holiday, which during our time in Perugia we parked in a video-secured parking lot at 3 minutes walking distance from the B&B. From the parking you are quickly on all the main highways in and out of the city but you do have to consider that it costs around 16 euro's to leave it there for a night. That's the only drawback of being in a medium to large city centre, but those who want to take a car into a centre will know to factor that in.

We had quite an early flight out of Perugia at the end of our stay so we had to leave the B&B before the regular breakfast time. No problem at all as the very friendly owners served breakfast earlier at our request so we could start our day with a final great breakfast. This is exemplary of the great service. If you want to stay in Perugia and want a great B&B a few steps away from the vibrant centre squares, look no further and go to San Fiorenzo.

This B&B was a great discovery. The location is amazing. We stayed at the "Suite Maior", which has a bedroom, a living room, a complete kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and an independent entrance. All of that allied to great attention and kindness of the owners, Luigi and Monica, who were always concerned in helping us in the best way possible and giving great tips of touristic attractions and restaurants. Finally, it could not have been better!!!

The location has limited car access but still possible if you let the hosts know beforehand. Take their mobile number.Once arrived, the location is great as it is close to everything. The room is comfortable and there is a choice of tower suite with cooking facilities/fridge etc or lovely room without these amenities. As we had no intention to cook, we had the room without mini kitchen but with jug. Bedding, bathroom etc was fantastic as was the daily breakfast with home baked cakes and great coffee. Luigi and Monica with their not so perfect English, could not do enough for us when we had a few issues.I highly recommend this accommodation as it is a fair price, spotlessly clean and wonderful hosts.

Room Tip: get mobile number before arriving as GPS may let you down.

We spent a really comfortable 3 nights over a chilly Easter weekend in the Tower suite. The apartment in the old medieval tower was warm, clean and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed. We could come out of our door and were a few steps away from medieval Perugia. Luigi and Monica were welcoming hosts and provided us with useful tips on what to see and do, as well as baking special Easter delicacies for breakfast. The breakfast was excellent, with a good range of sweet pastries and ham/cheese, and included fresh fruit. Highly recommended!
