My seven-year-old daughter and I dropped by unannounced a few Monday mornings ago to see Marta's amazing hand-weaving studio. In spite of being very busy, Marta dropped everything to give us a wonderful and informative tour of her working studio. One of her assistants was working on the jacquard loom, so we were able to stand right next to him and watch as he worked the loom. The setting in an old church is alone worth the visit, but add to that Marta's charming personality and engaging tour, and you've got yourself a trip highlight! It amazes me to think that we had a chance to see the only remaining working hand-operated jacquard loom studio in Italy. My only hope is that Marta is able to keep her enterprise going so that others can see and appreciate her art.
