My biggest complaint is that the service that the ladies at the front desk gave was rude and cold. They should not be working in the service industry. Not that we want to be overly attended to. We expect a warm inviting experience when we come to a hotel not a feeling of putting people out. Afterall - we are paying....
The resort was completely empty and they did not offer and amenities in those circumstances. I would suggest the hotel creates things for their customers to do during the cooler months. Maybe a fireplace to enjoy a drink. Pool was not only closed (which is acceptable), it was dirty. The spa was not turned on, no towels in the spa. The Restaurant was completely empty as well. Many lightbulbs out in hallways - sort of felt like the shining.
There was a mishap at check in and a nice man offered us a free bottle of sparking wine as an apology. I said we would love one and to bring it around later - it never arrived.
No one was ever at the front desk. I had to search the hotel multiple times to find someone. One time I searched and found all the staff eating.... the whole staff was eating while I paid $350 for a suite in a 4 star hotel. A lot of the signs and branding around the hotel did not make sense.
The property is nice but they have A LOT of work to do. There are so many outstanding places to stay within an hour of this resort (one particular in Assisi has it right). We only stayed one night at this resort and moved on to something so much better. Save your time and money and stay away from this cold souless establishment until they get their act together.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- BORGO DEI CONTI RESORT is located in Montepetriolo, just 10 minutes from Perugia, overlooking the valley of the Nestore river. The residential compound, which covers 20 hectares of centuries-old woods and olive groves, belonged to the family of the Counts Rossi Scotti who, beginning in the early 1800s, undertook its development according to the well-defined stylistic layout of the BORGO, or hamlet, with the Castle as the noble residence, while the remaining residential quarters represented a new interpretation of medieval inspiration. The painstaking restoration embraced the philosophy of the original concept, bringing to light the remarkable aspects that were all but wiped out in decades of abandonment. Today the master residence, the reconfigured residential quar- ters, the baroque style chapel and the park have taken on new roles, making the RESORT a unique and exclusive point of reference on the hospitality scene.A fiefdom with a kind and noble spirit, surrounded by the nature of Umbria, “the garden of Italy”, along the road to cities of art such as Rome, Florence and Siena, near sites of Etruscan relics (Perugia and Chiusi), and destinations of both spiritual (Assisi, Gubbio, Cascia) and cultural (Orvieto, Spoleto, Todi, Foligno) significance. Yet far away from all that is commonplace. ANCIENT CHARM, MODERN COMFORTThe dialogue between old and new is the common denominator of the style expressed within the walls of the 58 guestrooms of the Resort, located throughout the various residen- tial compounds.Comfort, practicality and technology blend with the charm of original elements such as fireplaces, painted ceilings, frescoed walls, antique glass and inlays. The same qualities are found in the 8 apartments, which may also be used for long-term stays. Each and every room – not only those located in the towers and turrets – offers unique emotions. The living room, in an authentic setting brimming with life, the internal court- yards and the maze of pathways, the Italian garden, the park with age-old aromatic woods, the opportunity for sports and wellness, all ensure a special experience.
