On a recent trip to Italy, I decided to take a one-day cooking class to experience authentic Italian home cooking. I could not have been happier with my selection of "Let's cook in Umbria". Raffaella welcomed me into her home and showered me with warmth and hospitality. The overall experience was beyond my expectations, it was very intimate given that I was the only student for the day. Stefania is friendly, funny and very focused on her role as "chef". She wants her students to take full advantage of the cooking class and learning experience while answering questions and explaining the simplicity of the fresh ingredients being used.
The menu for the day consisted of:
-Torta al Testo
-Tagliatell with Fresh Tomato Sauce
-Chicken Prosciutto Roulades
-Crostata with Homemade Cherry Preserves
Upon finalizing the meals, we ate together in Raffaela's family dining room. And, I had the pleasure of meeting her beautiful and talented daughter, son, husband and their lovely pets (including the chickens). You are given copies of all of the recipes prepared during the class along with a cooking certificate which is very nice touch and memento.
Raffaela also runs a Bed and Breakfast: LA VOLPE E L'UVA onsite which offers great accommodations and beautiful country views.
I strongly recommend signing up for a cooking class while in the area or staying at the B&B onsite. A truly memorable experience!!!
