The Mini Metro is a modern tram that goes from the periphery of Perugia to its historic center (Centro) in less than 15 minutes. Trams depart about every 2 minutes. For tourists it is very convenient to park in the large Pian di Massiano parking lot near the Mini Metro station and then take the tram to Centro ( Pinchetto station). Driving in Perugia can be challenging if you are not a native, with many one-way streets and there is virtually no parking in the historic center itself. The main limitation of the Mini-Metro is that it only runs from 7:00 in the morning until 21:05 in the evening, making it difficult to use it when planning to stay in Centro for dinner or a concert, of which there are many in Perugia during the summer months. For special events (e.g. Umbria Jazz Festival) the Mini-Metro runs until about 1:00 in the morning. Parking is available close to Centro at the Piazza di Partegiani and Piazza Pellini parking lots.
