We parked at the public parking lot and walked down the long street to the funicular past a statue of Umbaldo. There is a sign that says to go down the street, however it is a very long walk with no sign along the way to let you know that you are going the right way. A statue of the patron saint of Gubbio is along the way. Finally found the place and there was a parking lot there.
We bought our tickets and waited on the patform to get into the little baskets. We could not watch anyone else get on as there was no one there. So it was a little exciting to run and jump into the 2 man basket with the help of the attendant. Getting on at the bottom was quite the shock, but I was a pro by the time we came back down. The view is breath-taking. The church at the top is worth the trip where the body of the patron saint, Ubaldo lays in the front of the church. We listened to a tour box in the back of the church which was very informative. After walking around for a while. we stopped at one of the cafes to have cappucino. November is a great time to go as there is no one there and the operators are VERY happy to see you. Very enjoyable activity.
