“A wonderful day in Umbria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Anne led us on a wonderful day of visiting Assisi. She was so fun and passionate about her adopted city. After showing us the churches we went through many shops where she seemed to know every shopkeeper and their special wares. What a guide. Then off to the nearby town of Spello. What a treat! We had never heard of it but Anne promised a wonderful wine tasting and food tasting at Enoteca Properzio. It was an amazing experience in particular since the propertitor knew her and welcomed us as friends. She is the BEST!

“Anne loves Assisi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

There is nothing better than being shown a place by someone who loves it! Anne is extremely intelligent, knows so much about Assisi, Umbria, the culture of Italy and is FUN. We had a great time with her and learned so much. My husband, who thought a half day was plenty, extended our day to a full day once we were halfway through the morning. We loved Anne and will arrange to be with her again!

“Lovely Tours with Anne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We did two tours with Anne in late September. The first was the half day Assisi and half day Spello wine tasting tour which gave us the highlights and flavor of Assisi and Spello. Anne has vast knowledge of the local history of the region and a natural talent for relating it to how things are in present day Italy. She weaves it all into an interesting mix that is always informative and also thought provoking.
The wine pairing and lunch was fabulous as we dined in the inner courtyard of a local winery. It was a relaxed afternoon of excellent food, excellent wine, and great conversation with Anne and the other members of our tour. With Anne you always get in-depth historical information and also interesting tidbits of present day culture and practice. She points out little things such as obituaries are not published in the paper but are posted on wall in each town where locals drive up, stop and read about whom they need to pay their respects to. Wakes are held in the families home. Little things like this help one to understand the differences in people and cultures. She is a true medieval and present day historian!

The second tour was the Bevagna tour where we learned about early trade at the merchants house, why they slept sitting upright, why glasses were reused by different people and what was meant by "worth its weight in gold". The history of the current town theatre and how it came to be is a testament to the Italian perseverance. She makes Italian history and culture interesting and relevant.

We enjoyed all of the tours, learned a great deal, and would highly recommend any of them to all that come to the region. Above all you will have fun!

“A Magical Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

I am not a tour kind of person, nor is my husband. However, we fell in love with Anne who is completely and utterly a spitfire! They say great things come in small packages and that is the truth. Anne is a tiny woman with a big, big heart. Anne provided us with a fantastic tour in Assisi and Spello, and she created a magical evening that we will never forget. I don't know how one person is able to hold so much valuable information on so many subjects! Through Anne's love of Assisi and Spello we were able to meet some fascinating people and see things that the average tour guide just does not provide. Our time with Anne in Assisi and Spello was a prominent highlight of our entire trip to Italy. I highly recommend hiring Anne to take you on a most fabulous and magical tour!
