“Great location, okay value, noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2009

The location is perfect - very close to the Piazza and Duomo. We paid 80 euro per night for a very small room (no. 16) with a tiny bathroom. The bed was comfortable, the room warm and the water hot. The problem we had was that our room (along with a few others) was immediately above a bar. This is fine if you're planning a late, boozey night. Further, the room was above a lane connected to a square so other noises started very early and finished very late. People use the lane to get around at all hours and they don't keep their voices down. The hotel was expensive for what you get but I really can't understand why you would stay outside the walls of Siena. We're travelling on a budget however there was no question that we'd spend a little more to stay in the old town. That said, there are other hotels close to La Perla. It would be worth checking out their rates or asking reception at La Perla for a room not above the lane. There is no breakfast included and wi-fi is available for a fee. I recommend this hotel mainly because it's very cheap for Siena.

Fantastic location - only two minutes to the Campo. The room was small and simple but had everything we needed. The small ensuite and room were very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Be warned you will have to carry your bags up two flights of stairs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Perla. Its location is perfect - across from the taxi stand and only a few steps from Piazza del Campo. The rooms are on the small side but, in August with good airconditioning, this was a plus. Everything was clean and comfortable. We'd stay again any time. And Jacopo and his staff could not have been more helpful.

This was a wonderful little hotel located in the walled city of Siena. If you want to stay where the action is at, this is the place for you. It's off the main square so not as noisy. The bathroom is really interesting with the shower and toliet are combined. Very clean and helpful staff. We had 3 rooms rented and everyone seemed to have a great experience.

The staff here were very friendly and helpful, with good english. The location was fantastic, and only seconds walk to the Piazza dell Campo and the Palazzo Repubblica. The rooms were basic, but we had a good view and the bed was very comfortable. The shower in the ensuite was a little cramped but worked perfectly well and they have a 'left luggage' if you're checking out and not leaving till later on. I'd definitely stay again!

...and a bit pricey. But were there only 2 days after Il palio. Small basic rooms, breakfast not included. Excellent location but a bit noisy, Il Palio partying. Good for a 1 night stopover. Any longer find something else.

Siena is great place.

The hotel's location is excellent, 2 min walk to Piazza del Campo. We had one of the attic rooms which has superb view of San Domenico. Our room was cozy and very quiet, the only slight problem was the occasional unpleasant smell from the bathroom. For €80, I think there are better places in Siena.
