“Lacking in certain areas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

I think the Giardino's webpage flatters it a bit too much! The view is beautiful, the breakfast was good, but the jacuzzi didn't work, the beds were hard and maybe it is the time of year as there weren't many guests, but it was generally lacking in atmosphere!

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night in February 2013.

A convenient location outside the city walls 15 minutes walk from the Campo. The hotel is a small 'campus' with separate buildings for rooms and fitness centre etc giving it a small resort atmosphere.

Accommodation is clean and comfortable, in line with its star rating. But the big advantage is that everything is warm and welcoming. We have stayed in hotels in Italy that are cold in winter. This one is most definitely not. The proprietors are also welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is Italian style, with fresh pastries and coffee.

This hotel is a great choice for an economic convenient stay in the wonderful city of Siena both in summer and in winter.

Stayed at Il Giardino for three nights in Sept and really loved it. The hotel is family run with the owners always nearby to offer advice and help (they speak very good English). We stayed in the older part of the hotel which is a little more dated, but the bed was nice/large and the room was very clean with daily towel change. Breakfast was a nice selection of the usual fare (meat/cheese/cereal/fresh fruit/eggs/baking/juice) plus excellent coffee. Internet is a bit confusing with a new system (&Italian instructions) to use in the rooms, but we used the old system while sitting in the lobby or nearby terrace (both are free).
The pool was great too - larger than you'd expect in a hotel with lots of lounge chairs surrounding it. The owners were very, very nice & helpful - Gianna recommended a nice restaurant in town for us and Umberto got us plates/cutlery when we had bought some picnic items to eat on the terrace. Hotel has free parking and is about a 15min stroll into the centre/Campo.

Room Tip: Ask for the new building.

The hotel was very close to the city, just a few hundred meters to town
center, not far from one of the gates into the historic area of Siena. A big bonus with the Pool on site and Car parking.Very  helpful, professional and friendly staff. They informed about the city  fully equipped of useful material appropriate to the journey planned .Great room, very clean and comfortable.
Not a luxury hotel, but absolutely perfect for a young couple, singles or families who want the best of both worlds - sun and sightseeing. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We were made to feel very welcome at this friendly family run hotel which has a fab pool with great views of Siena and is 5 mins walk from the entrance to the old walled part of Siena. Highly recommended and esp for families/couples who want to be near the heart of the city but also want a pool to cool off (and free paking!) We had booked a family room for 5 of us, but when we arrived they gave us 2 rooms for no extra cost, everyone was happy. Good breakfast in room with those views again. Incidentally, Siena was absolutely amazing!

I can only recommend this hotel, lovely staff, great service, clean and spacy rooms, very quiet.
The breakfast was excellent, the pool clean and nice and even though it was about 20 minutes to walk to the Piazza, nothing to complain.
I will stay there again if I decide to travel in that area again.

We slept 2 nights in this hotel with my wife and my 2 little children.
The hotel is not in the historical city, but just beside the walls, which means 15 min walk to reach the centre. The nice point is that you have an outstanding view of the city centre from the breakfast room, included to the price. There is also a swimming pool, but very cold... 17°C as we went there...
Our room was located in the ground floor. It was very clean with much space. The price of 90€ per night was really good.

Unfortunately, the lady at the welcome desk was not professional : she forgot to tell us about the breakfast so that we missed it the first morning, and she forgot to give us our passports back, so that we left the hotel without them. Be carrefull of her !
