“Just lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Staying here was the perfect experience of Tuscan elegance. Giacomo and the staff were so incredibly welcoming, helpful and accommodating with any enquiry and need (travel adapters, restaurant recommendations etc). The room itself was simple but the view from it was what made it special. The buffet breakfast was really good with a wide section of choices, so we were all satisfied before heading in to town to explore. My two children would run through the pear and olive trees while we sat and watched the view of the surrounding town and hills. Glorious! The hotel is situated just outside of town so it was a lovely escape from the tourist crowds but not so far removed that this was a problem at all. We loved the location, service and setting.

Just a five minute walk from the Porta Romana, outside the walled city of Siena, we found a piece of heaven in the Palazzo di Valli. When the cab turned into the rose-lined driveway I drew in my breath at the sight of the Palazzo, entrance surrounded by lush hanging flowers, Lorenzo running down the steps to greet us. The terrace view is postcard ready, the atmosphere one of complete peace. It almost didn't matter what the room was like, though it was fine. We rearranged the desk so that I could write while gazing out the window at the endless hillside. Breakfast was substantial, great coffee, cheerful faces and Giacomo was especially warm, full of local history, museum and restaurant recommendations. By all means have the once in a lifetime experience of dinner at the Campo, ten minutes by local bus, but don't miss the gourmet Fori Porta Ristorante which is just across the street from the hotel, serving a sophisticated menu of Sienese specials. When you return you can sit on the terrace with a last glass of wine and admire the lighted towers of Siena.

Room Tip: We had two large suitcases so were relieved to have a ground floor room, but if there was an elevato...

This hotel was very lovely! For those traveling by car, be forewarned, pulling into the entrance of the long driveway with a mid-sized car is a little tricky. But, once you pull in you will be glad you did. Giacomo and Lorenzo, the managers, are wonderful....you feel more like you are visiting old friends than a hotel....they are professional, courteous, very warm and friendly, and extremely helpful.
The building was built in the 1700s so it is spectacularly beautiful and the views of the surrounding hills are so beautiful and calming...
The room is simple, sparse, with so-so beds in terms of comfort....but if you are used to really comfy beds you may find them difficult to find in Italy. But it didn't even matter because you throw open your window and smell the lovely Tuscan air and see the rolling hills and it is so magical.
The walk into the very center of town takes 30 minutes with kids and 20 minutes without. It is a lovely walk in any case...and Siena is an enchanting town.
There is a bus to take into town as well but we didn't use it.
Breakfast on the terrace was very nice....very peaceful...mostly other Europeans..
Overall, a great experience and very well worth the money...
We ate at La Taverna di San Guiseppe in town...beautiful setting, great food

I have just returned from a four night stay at the Pallazo di Valli. This is an enchanting hotel, just a ten minute walk from beautiful Siena. There is an atmosphere of calm and tranquility here in this historic villa and its grounds. The gardens are lovely and the view of the Tuscan hills from the terrace is unforgettable. Rooms are spacious and airy and the breakfast buffet, eaten outside in good weather, is very good indeed. Thank you Lorenzo and Giacomo for your help with tickets and travel enquiries. Everyone is so helpful. I look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: The rooms on the higher floors have views of the Tuscan hills.

I have stayed in other hotels in Siena, but after my stay here I will always return to the Palazzo di Valli. The views are superb, the historical building is very romantic, the parking is easy and the location is convenient to the city center and the surrounding countryside. Starting the day with a tasty breakfast on the sunny terrace, or to unwinding there later in the day with a glass of wine was a true pleasure. The staff could not have been any better. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We were treated like were the best of friends. Grazie mille.

Room Tip: Ask for the upper floor rooms to get the best views.

We stayed at Palazzo di Valli for one night this spring. We loved the location. We had just picked up a rental car in Chiusi and I wasn't really in the mood for a stressful drive into and through the city. This hotel was right outside town, had convenient parking and was just a short walk to the bus. The bus runs frequently, and took us very close to the main square in Siena. The hotel itself was lovely, service was great, with recommendations for transport and restaurants. We loved Siena. We took the bus into town and returned home by taxi, which was only 10 euro (including tip).

We've recently spent 4 nights at this lovely hotel. First we must say how friendly and helpful we found Giacomo, Lorenzo and their staff. Everyone made us feel welcome and cared for, which really set the mood for our holiday. It was absolutely perfect for us; a short walk (or bus ride) into the centre of Siena yet with the most spectacular views over the Tuscan hills from our room and from the terrace. We could not believe how lucky we were to be able to spend hours gorging ourselves on the magnificent sights of Siena and then to come back to such a glorious, peaceful spot. Breakfast on the wonderful terrace was the perfect way to start the day, and a bottle of wine the perfect end. We'd go back now if we could. Utterly enchanting. Many, many thanks to Giacomo and Lorenzo - we can't praise them enough.
