As I arrived early in the morning in Sienne, pilgrim on the Via Francigena, I stopped at the first place I found alluring inside the old walls of the city. This was the Osteria Il Vinaio.
I was welcomed by Davide, one of the two brothers who handle the place. He proposed me a plate with different delicatessen and cheese (Pecorino, salami, ham,...) and I asked for Mozzarella to complete the degustation.
The result was up to my hopes. The sausage was very delicious with herb mixed into the meat. The olive oil was high quality and the all for a 12 euros price, drink included. It worths it.
Davide gave me advice to buy products and try a restaurant in Buonconvento, in the south of Sienne. I went there and had no regret.
The bar linked with the shop gives an extra local atmosphere, between a coffee and the Gazetta dello sport. This all-in-one-place is typically italian and helps not to have a boring touristic place.
