“2 night business stay VFM”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Very happy with the overall stay.
Hotel does what it says and the staff have learnt the wonderful lesson that customer courtesy pays.
A little disappointed I did not read about the swimming pool at the sister Hotel, will definitely be looking forward to this next time.
Good breakfast. Easy walk to city centre and train station.
As a business traveller I find high season rates a nuisance as there is no added advantage to me compared to Autumn or Winter. However still an acceptable rate for the value of the service.

This is a traditional hotel that ticks all the boxes. We chose it for its location: there is a long escalator that starts down at the railway station and climbs the steep hillside up to the city walls, finishing just 100 metres from the hotel. Many coach services also stop at the railway station. Thus, the hotel is convenient if you are coming or going by public transport and have luggage. At one point we had a hire car and, as the hotel is just outside the city walls, we were able to park it in the street behind the hotel; parking the car at a hotel within the city walls would have been more of a challenge. The hotel is about a mile's walk from Siena's central square, but it's an interesting walk. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

We spent 4 days in this hotel. 10 minutes walk from the historic Siena. Great location and you can drop your luggages just in front of the hotel. Rooms are super clean and great bathroom. The staff are super kind and take time to explain what to expect in Siena. Wi Fi was free for us no charges and network connection was very fast. Good breakfast. Very close to the train station thru the shopping center. Price was good if you reserve in advance and pay in advance. We loved it.

Location is excellent for train travelers. Take a series of escalators that begin below train platforms and pass through a small mall up the hillside, takes 6 to 7 minutes, come out from the escalators to a street, cross it and turn right, then walk 2 to 3 minutes to the hotel (you will see the back of the hotel sign as you approach, thus the sign is tough to read - the sign faces the other way because the hotel sits on a main entry road into Siena and auto traffic enters from that direction). The walk from the hotel into the city center is advertised as 15 minutes, but that's exaggerated we thought, it's probably 20 to 25 minutes, but who knows for sure? It's such a nice walk you'll probably be making stops along the way. Since you are on top of a big hill the whole time from the hotel into the city center there are no long steep climbs along the way, but some short ups and downs. Hotel front desk staff was helpful and cheerful. Breakfast good. Pharmacy, pizza carryout, and other shops close by. If coming to Siena again we'd stay here again. Very convenient to the train station, convenient enough to the city, and quiet (whereas downtown did not seem so quiet at night) with necessities close by.

Room Tip: We were in an Executive Room, #355. King bed and nice bathroom (shower only I think). Soft drinks an...

My husband and I spent two nights at this hotel. It is a small, beautiful and modern hotel. Of all the hotels that we stayed at (there were 5 in all, during our tour of Italy), this hotel was the best. It is conveniently located in a lovely area. Across the street there was a fully modern laundromat, that came in handy. If you choose this hotel, know that there is an escalator located in the train station that takes you up quite a distance to the street level and approximately one block to the right is the location of this hotel. The internal escalator is not that apparent unless you put in the effort to look for it. We only discovered this after taking a taxi to the hotel. The staff at the Hotel Italia was very attentive to our needs and requests. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.with a wide selection of cheeses and delicious pastries along with scrambled eggs and bacon. Siena is a beautiful town very pleasant and relaxing with numerous quaint shops and restaurants and this hotel just added to our pleasure. We highly recommend this hotel.

We booked two rooms via booking.com but we didn't book directly with the hotel as they seemed to have been charging more. We got upgraded to superior rooms which was a lovely touch and got to check in early too which was great as we had spent 3 hours driving from Rome! There is a charge for wifi - 5.00 for 24 hours. The wifi can be intermittant but possibly because there are lots of people using it at the same time. There is a pool you can use free of charge at their sister hotel - Hotel Garden, collect voucher from the Reception desk. When you leave the hotel - turn left walk down the road till you get to the roundabout and take the 2nd exit, hotel is on the right. We were told to take the first exit but this is much longer and is unnecessary if you dont need to walk that much. Siena is a beautiful place and is great if you like the relaxed atmosphere. Do go into the Cathedral and museum. Town Hall was pretty great too.

Stayed for 1 night while visiting Siena. Congenial location just outside the old city great. Could drive right up an found very convenient parking on the street 50m away which was free. Room and be comfortable however 2 issues cause me not to rave:
1) they put us in their annex which is fine as very close however if you are staying there I would strongly suggest asking for upstairs. We were awakened and kept awake for quite sometime in the middle of the night by noise from above. The walls seemed fine but the roof obviously not
2) wifi was by charge as we hadn't booked directly with the hotel. This was the only place I visited in Europe where there was a levy. To be fair, they did give a voucher for a 3 hour block but really in this day and age should be made available either in the room or lobby without levy

Dear Guest,

first of all I would like to thank you for choosing Hotel Italia during your stay in Siena.
I'm sorry about the issues you report and I just can apologize.
The roof is new, but with the night silent, someone above walking or moving chairs is certainly amplified.
Regarding WIFI, I'm sorry but the information that booking directly with us it's FREE otherwise it's on payment is very clear... the choice is up to you. You may not agree but it is the only way we have to disintermediate.
I understand, however, that overall it was a good stay...I hope so...
Maybe you'll give us the chance to be perfect next time :-).
Best regards form me and the Staff,

Federica Fiochi
